Acing Battlefield Three Jetflight
In this article, you will learn how to dominate the skies of BF3 with your skillfull jet driving and wipe out every other competitor.
As in any vehicle, starting out and getting the basic weapons to start beasting around the maps getting alot of kills. But unlike any other vehicle, upgrading the jet will be slightly harder because you only have a machine gun while your enemies have heat seakers and things as such. More advanced pilots have guided missiles. You will use your flares most since your enemies will have a minimum of a heat seaker as a weapon upgrade, so keep them on. You will find them handy throughout the game. I, for example, still use them, and i have many different choices. But IR Flares extend your airtime in case you get tailed by a talented pilot. Using the rocket pods is not good either, although it may seem very cool. The guided missile in my opinion is the best choice since it is unaffected by flares. It can only be affected by an ECM jammer. A very intelligent technique to use with missiles is misleading. When a jet has locked on to you, you hear constant beeping. But when the jet launches a missile at you, you hear a unique beep that warns you of the missile. After hearing that unique beep, you must launch your flares. Having this in mind, you can use this as an advantage. About 90% of players do not do this, so keeping them in your lock will make them panic because of the sound and thus launch their IR flares. when they launch their flares, they will have to wait for a little while until they can launch them again. In this time, when you get cleared of the flare area, launch your missiles as soon as possible to get the vehicle disabled and destroyed. Keep in mind that you have 2 heatseeker missiles, so you can use the first one as a trap if the pilot is experienced, so you get him to launch his flares. When he launches them and cancels your first missile, cast your second missile to destroy his vehicle. Shoot him as fast as possible to destroy his vehicle before he launches himself out of the jet. If you know these basic dogfighting rules, you will manage to get a couple of kills. But you must practice hard to attain a level of perfection. Another thing you must practice would be the counter-attacks to these techniques. When your enemy launches a missile at you and you launch your flares in return, get yourself out of his lock as soon as possible so that he doesnt get you with the second missile if he has one. I cannot help you with flying the jet unless I make a video but that is currently not possible. I advise you although to read through real-life jet evasions. Practicing such flight will help you get behind your opponent in the most impossible cases. I hope this article was of some help to you for this is the only info I use while flying jets. You just need the basics and the rest is up to you.
