You can have their Recon; and the wait is over.

This isn’t a cheat or cheap way of getting it it is a legitimate way, any thing you’ve seen to get it by entering some codes on Bungie.net like this….:

…are lies. They’re just print screen edited in some photo editing software.

People have also posted videos to show how this is fake explaining how it is done.

The proper way is by doing the Vidmaster Challenges on Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. On Halo 3 the Vidmaster Challenges are:

Annual

Lightswitch

Brainpan

7 on 7

Vidmaster Challenge: Annual

Complete Halo on Legendary LIVE, Co-Op with Iron and everyone in Ghosts

To do this you need XBOX Live and three competent friends. Until you get to the top of the crashed ship the best thing I found to do is rush. Make use of Rockets and Fuel Rod Cannons and charge at the flood. If you get injured hide get one person to cover you and the other 2 to carry on and you should be at the top in no time. Just watch your back when going up the stairs as they drop down. At the top stick back and stick together, watch out for shot gunners and maulers and take our the pure form floods while they are as stalkers or changing into ranged as that is when they are weakest. When you get to Guilty Spark stick to the back wall and jump over the beam so you are not blown of the edge or killed by his laser beam. Then wait a bit and take the laser kill Spark and go out. There are some flood here so be aware then head outside drop down to the left and you will find 4 ghosts. DON’T DRIVE OFF THE EDGE you will mess up your Ghost and have to make your way back up to the top. Then drive, I recommend having a leader who knows where they are are going and everyone stick just behind them but don’t crash or you’ll flip and die. You can splatter everything apart from flood carrier forms so if you see them on a non-falling platform shoot them or rive very slowly around them. Finally on the last stretch don’t slow down for a cool screen shot so that you fall just boost.

Vidmaster Challenge: Light Switch

Get to the rank of Lieutenant in the new Exp Ranking System

Get 50 Exp in one playlist, easiest in social like rumble pit due to poor guests and lower skilled players than in playlists like Lone Wolves. Don’t be an idiot and try to do it in Action Sack after me saying social playlists.

Vidmaster Challenge: Brainpan

Collect the 6 hidden skulls on the Mythic Map Packs

Get all the skulls on the 6 Mythic Maps, look on YouTube if you can’t find them. Find out more about the maps here. You also get a bonus 25 Gamerscore for unlocking this unlike the rest, on Halo 3, which get you a huge 0g.

Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7

Enter a matchmaking playlist with 7 Exp on the 7th of the month

Get 7 Exp in a playlist you don’t play that much so you can leave it at 7 Exp until the 7th of the next month. Then go into matchmaking on the 7th and ‘Start Matchmaking’ and bloop Achievement Unlocked. Alternatively get 7 Exp in the 7 on 7 playlist Bungie put up once a month, make sure you do it on the 7th as due to time zones it will be open from the 6th to the 8th.

The Vidmasters for ODST are:

Deja Vu

Classic

Endure

Vidmaster Challenge: Déjà Vu

Completed Highway on 4 player Legendary LIVE co-op with Iron, and no ‘Hog or Scorpion.

When you start the mission go down the middle of the highway and you will see some rockets and mongooses, the rest is self explanitory. The best video guide I found is:

Vidmaster Challenge: Classic

Finished any level solo on Legendary, on LIVE, with no shots fired or grenades thrown.

Do this on Uplift Reserve, you have to grab the ghost and just boost. This can be a little buggy to unlock for some people, a big problem is using a Warthog and honking the horn, probably because it is the right trigger button. There are some really good short-cuts for this I can’t find the video that shows them at the moment.

A great guide here from Achievement Hunter from Rooster Teeth:

Vidmaster Challenge: Endure

In Firefight, on any mission, passed the 4th Set on 4 player Heroic LIVE Co-Op.

It’s Heroic so a bit easier than Legendary. In case you didn’t know Firefight is Halo’s alternative of Nazi Zombies and Horde where waves of enemies come at you over and over until you die. Four sets means 60 waves or 12 rounds or loads of Covenant. I recommend doing it on Lost Platoon. What you need to do is get one person with the laser and the sniper; their job is to take out the Wraiths and provide sniper supports but don’t forget about them when they are being swarmed by Grunts (maybe make sure there is an SMG or Pistol nearby them). Two people should get in the Warthog and their first job is to take out the Chopper driver not the chopper so the fourth person can get in it. Clear out two more choppers so you have three people in Choppers and one with the power weapons up high. Remember all weapons re-spawn after each round so if the Laser is only used on the Wraith you have just enough ammo. Be prepared for about 2 hours work but enjoy that nice 25g Vidmaster.

Good luck on your Road to Recon

Alternatively – ‘Impress a Member of Bungie staff!’

All about Heretic, Citadel and Longshore.

Like in every other Map Pack there are three new maps; they are:

Citadel

Heretic

Longshore

Like Mythic Map Pack 1 came first to those who bought the Special Edition of Halo Wars, Map Pack 2 is available to Halo 3: ODST Special Edition buyers and then a month later to everyone else or 800 Microsoft Points. So they’ll be on XBOX Live Marketplace around the 22nd October this year.

Here’s pictures of the 3 Maps:

Heretic

A remake of Midship from Halo 2, looks like all the action will focus around the Sword and Shotgun in the center.

Citadel

This looks like one of the towers in ‘The Covenant’ only the middle platform isn’t a lift.

I’ll post an Image of what I mean soon!

Longshore

This to me looks like the Mission ‘Floodgate’ but not “floody”, looks like it will be the biggest map and the most “forgeable” one because you can see all sorts of crates and boxes e.t.c.

I’ll post an Image here too to show you what I mean!

There are also gameplay videos:

Heretic

On Heretic the things in it shown are:

Plasma Grenades

Needler

Sword

Shotgun

Bubble Shield

Citadel

On Citadel the things in it show are:

Plasma Grenade

Power Drain

Overshield

Spiker

Plasma Rifle

Carbine

Needler

Battle Rifle

Longshore

On Longshore the things in it show are:

Sniper Rifle

Turret

Overshield

Rockets

Battle Rifle

Ghost

Extending Bridge

Spartan Laser

Gravity Hammer

Plasma Grenades

Energy Sword

Shotgun

Needler

Plasma Rifle (Could be the guns on the Ghost though, I can only hear something that sounds like this)

Power Drain

There are loads of videos on YouTube just search {Map} gameplay and you’ll get loads.

This Map Pack doesn’t look as good as any of the others, no clear forge map and no original environments. However if you want those skulls towards Recon and to play in the play lists they are put into you’ll have to buy it.

When the maps come out I will post videos on this page of where the skulls are so you get get ‘Vidmaster Challenge: Brainpan’ and be one step closer to saying ‘I haz Rec0nz’.

Halo three tips for casual gamers!

Image via Wikipedia

First of all, this game is rated M for Mature so I hope none of you are under the age of 17 and playing this game. Okay now, when playing Halo 3 online, you have to stay completely calm. Always have a bottle of water with you so that you can drink every time you spawn to get you ready to play more. Now when you are in close range with an enemy player I suggest using an assault rifle or a shotgun.

Assault Rifle tips: when walking towards an enemy always strafe when you are shooting with an assault rifle then when you are in arms length, melee the enemy!

Shotgun tips: When using the shotgun it always works if you sneak up on the enemy. Always aim for the head. If you shoot the body, either melee or shoot again.

When you are in mid-range, the best weapons to use is the battle rifle, carbine, spiker, or brute shot.

Battle Rifle/carbine tips: For this always start off by throwing a grenade then shoot with the battle rifle/carbine. It takes 4 head shots to kill the enemy so aim for the head for good results.

Brute Shot tips: The brute shot is great for melee. So shoot the enemy about 2-3 times with the brute shot, then melee.

There really are no tips for a spiker, but it is another good weapon to melee with.

For long-range, of course you have to use a sniper/beam rifle.

Sniping tips: First of all, find a good snipe tower. After that, just start sniping! Again, stay relaxed. At first, it is hard to snipe but just keep practicing, and you’ll get there. Never no-scope, unless you are good at it.

Heavy weapons are used to destroy vehicles. These weapons are the spartan laser, rocket launcher and even a brute shot. Sometimes you can use a plasma bomb. If you are destroying a vehicle with a rocket launcher, shoot in front of the vehicle, even if it means getting splattered. You will still kill them. Also, if someone is shooting you from behind, jump backwards and try to get an assassination. It’s worth a shot. Just follow these tips and I guarantee you that your skill will be much better.

During the E3 2009, Microsoft revealed Bungie will once more release a Halo game, called Halo: Reach. This was showed with a trailer of the game in which we see plan Reach, the planet where the Spartans are trained, being attacked by Covenants.

The trailer ended with a notice saying that Halo:Reach will come out in 2010. Bungie also declared that those who buy Halo:ODST will be able to play the Halo:Reach multiplayer beta throughout Xbox Live Arcade.

A look at good Halo websites.

Halo is a great game, with a great following. And if you are amongst one of the game’s legions of fans, then you will no doubt be seeking some good web-site material in relation to the game. Fortunately there is a fair bit out there; but only the best sites will be really worth your time.

Planet Halo

To start off with, Planet Halo provides a great all round web-site. It is very well presented, well-designed site. It provides coverage of all the Halo games from 1-3, as well as Halo Wars. No stone is left unturned in relation to content with the site having Halo news, features, a forum and active Halo community. More novel additions to the site are its Halo encyclopaedia and a comic section.

HaloForever

If you are seeking a serious multi-player guide for Halo 3 (and 2 to a lesser extent) to enhance your game, then you might want to take a look at this site. Essentially, it focuses on the playing side of the game and provides a well-presented site with a number of organized links to game tips and guides. It is updated on a regular basis so content remains current. The site also boasts some nice artwork, and some good desktop wallpaper to download.

Halo.Bungie.Org

Halo Bungie makes for an interesting site. Although not actually affiliated with Bungie Studios in any way, it is created as a fan site for Halo. It is a fairly comprehensive general Halo site, with a very useful FAQ, news, screenshot database as well as a collection of concept art in addition to Halo video footage. The site also boasts Halo related Comic strips, which are a nice touch.

Halo 3

An official web-site mostly based on Halo 3, but also containing some information on all the Halo titles. Interactivity is the buzzword on this site, which will not run without a flash player, and almost every menu or object on the site seems to move in some way. As such, the site can slow down your computer! It is still very professional, and its best feature is probably a full interactive game manual for Halo 3. The site can also provide a newsletter on Halo for registered users.

Halo Boards

The listing would not be complete without a top notch Halo community board. And this is your friendly Halo Community forum. A big forum, with general Halo discussion by fans of the game on all things related to the series. Aside from the comprehensive discussion, the site has a video section with Halo video clips submitted and also has competitions.

Those are the best web-sites for all things Halo. Force me to pick one out, then PlanetHalo is perhaps the best in relation to both content and design. Regardless of which version you play, it will be useful site to you. It is sharp, easy to navigate, and doesn’t have the slowdowns of the Halo 3 site. Still, they are all worth a look, and will provide you with really good Halo resources.

Interview with Randall Martin. An inside look at Halo three and how it compares with more recently released games.

When sitting at my desk preparing to write my next article, my fourteen year-old son stated that I should write about Halo 3. When I asked him why I should do that, he informed me that it was a “totally awesome” game. So I began to ask him a couple of questions to see if he really had any backing for his statement.

I started off with some basic questions about the game, as I really didn’t have a clue about the details of it. The only things I knew were that it was a “totally awesome” game and that it was released in 2007.

He began to educate me on the wonders of this game. I posed this question “Didn’t this game come out in 2007”? He responded affirmatively and so my next question was “What about the newer games that have come out since then. Has nothing topped Halo 3 yet?” His answer was an emphatic “no”.

For those of you that haven’t bought or rented the game yet, and for those of you who have and are still interested in finding out more, we’re going to delve into all the pertinent facts as presented by my in-home game professional.

“Randall, what do you like about the game?”

1) “There are lots of futuristic weapons”, he responds. (Of course this would be his first and most favorite aspect of the game).

I asked him to expound a little further on the “humans” or the “good guys” in the game before we get into the weaponry: “The humans are lead by Master Chief, John Spartan 117. He is an augmented human and the last of the super soldiers. Humans and Elites, which are alien life-forms, join forces against the other aliens. Most of the time you are fighting, you have the Arbiter on your side. The Arbiter is the main fighting elite.”

So now that I know more about the good guys, we’ll jump into the weaponry. Following is the list of weapons, which is broken down between Humans and Aliens.

Human Weapons:

MA5C Assault Rifles

BR 55 Battle Rifles

M 90 Shotgun

M41 Rocket Launcher

M6G Pistol

Spartan Laser

SRS99D Sniper Rifle

M7 SMG – Sub Machine Gun

Turret

Rocket Launcher mounted on Turret

Alien Weapons:

Plasma Rifle

Plasma Pistol

Carbine

Particle Beam Rifle

Needler

Brute Spike Rifle – this is Randall’s favorite weapon of the game “it’s totally awesome”

Brute Shot

Gravity Hammer

Mauler

Energy Sword

Fuel Rod Cannon

Plasma Turret

2) “The game has Cool Aliens”

Elites – the “good aliens” that help the humans

Jackals – bird-like creatures. Some carry energy shields.

Brutes – ape-like creatures

Hunters -huge creatures that carry a plasma cannon mounted on arm

Grunts – short and ugly creatures that are fun to kill

Prophets – appear very rarely in the game

Flood – An infection

Drones – Bug-like aliens

3) “Cool vehicles”

This again, is broken down between Human and Alien vehicles for your reading pleasure.

Human Vehicles:

Warthog

Gauss Warthog

Scorpion Tank

Mongoose

Pelican -crew ship that carries reinforcements

Hornet

Alien vehicles:

Ghost

Banshee (Scepter)

Wraith

Chopper

Ski vehicle

Phantom

4) “It has excellent graphics. Everything looks realistic, especially the videos in-between missions. The people talking look real”.

5) “Excellent Missions”. He couldn’t really give me specifics in this category. Nevertheless, he had many things to discuss with me pertaining to this topic. He started rambling on about how you could shoot this particular alien, with this particular gun and it was really cool when the alien got killed, the amazing sound effects, etc. My summary of this discussion is: Each mission has its own cool way to kill an alien.

6) Additional miscellaneous cool information as provided by the game guru:

There are different Levels to complete

The different Levels are challenging in a fun way

The average time to complete a level is 30 minutes to an hour

Head shots kill faster than body shots

Cool weapon sound effects

Once you get started playing, you won’t want to stop

Game rating on a scale from 1 to 10: Game gets a 9.5 rating.

“Why the 9.5 and not a 10 rating?”

“Some missions are very difficult and in my opinion, I hate fighting Flood. Flood is like an infection. They start out as little pods and infect dead bodies of aliens and humans and they’re super strong and they’re fast. The largest of the Flood can transform into a crab-like creature that can climb on walls and shoots its own self-made spikes.”

Would you recommend this game to others?

“Yes, but only teens and up because there is a lot of blood and alien guts and the Flood is very gross-looking. There is also some bad language. The game rating is “M””.

Thanks to my game professional we now have the inside look of Halo 3 from a teenage perspective. Yes, Halo 3 has been out for awhile now but kudos to the publisher, Microsoft Game Studios, for developing a smash hit game that keeps the kids coming back for more.
