You have the option of training the new guy at the beginning of the game which ironically serves as your training mode. Anyone who played the first game will catch on quick as most of the controls are the same. They will also recognize the new guy as being the brother to one of the faceless grunts who died in the first game. Foreshadowing? As always the game revolves around taking cover and shooting enemies with various guns. Like any good sequel, Gears of War 2 adds a few new guns, new moves, new levels, advances the story, and even lets you ride a few of the enemy vehicles/creatures.

One new feature that will assure everyone that the game’s brutally macho mentality is still firmly intact is the ability to curb stomp wounded enemies while they crawl around on the ground. If you let leave them alone for too long they will usually die anyway, but if another enemy makes it to them, they can revive them just as you can revive your teammates. This feature amuses me because all you do is give them a pat on the shoulder, and your friend who is trailing enough blood to paint a floor with gets back on his feet none the worse for wear.

If you get injured, you can try to drag yourself over to your AI partners, but they don’t always seem aware of your predicament and may take awhile to help you. If every member of your team is put into this state, you’re all dead, and the game has no health packs or life bars. The gear skull returns as the measure of how much damage you’ve taken. The more you get hurt, the fuller the symbol becomes, and once you’ve found a safe place to rest, your damage will slowly disappear.

The game also adds a few new weapons, my favorite of which is the minigun which can’t be reloaded. You can’t run with this weapon, or jump over walls with it, but no other handheld weapon mows down enemies as quickly as this one. All of the weapons from the first game appear again, but the most useful one is the Lancer assault rifle you start with. Its melee attack is an instant kill, using the chainsaw on your gun. You can carry one other rifle-sized weapon, and I recommend the sniper riffle. It’s pretty handy in long range fights as long as you’re a good shot. The torque bow, locust machine gun, and shot gun are all back and work the same as before as well as your pistol and chain grenades. Perhaps the most unique new weapon is the shield. This weapon is dropped by one of they new enemies, and is rather odd to use in contrast to the other weapons. It can be used as portable cover which is handy, but really it’s usually easier to stick with the conventional strategies of the game.

Gears of War 2 has more vehicle levels than the first game, and each one is different. You drive tanks on dunebugy wheels, ride the Locusts’ flying Reavers and even hijack a Brumak at one point. You also ride on giant carriers and have to defend them from attackers, crawl through the inside of a giant worm, and infiltrate the Locust cities. Each level is dramatically different and very interesting in its own way, fleshing out the world in which the game takes place.

All the main characters from the first game return, and a few new ones are introduced. Nearly all of them are ridiculously hardcore bad asses who single-handedly take on entire armies while the rest of you’re helmet-wearing allies get mowed down left and right around you. I could accept this kind of storytelling with God of War because you were a demigod, and in Halo because you are a specially trained and enhanced soldier, but in Gears of War, you’re just a soldier who somehow manages to fight through ridiculous odds, penetrate into the enemy capitol city, and enter the queen’s throne room without a problem. Hell, there is literally a scene in which one of the giant vehicles is destroyed, but one of the main guys walks out of the wreckage without a scratch on him.

The characters themselves are so overly macho American that it’s almost embarrassing, especially Cole, and the fact that a large plot device in the game is a metaphor for oil is hard to ignore as well. Despite that, Delta squad is a lot of fun to listen to as they bond with each other in the stereotypical insecure heterosexual male fashion of giving each other shit and bitching about their situation at every opportunity. There is one point when Cole gets on the intercom in the Locust city and talks shit to their whole army and queen which made me laugh out loud. I do find it a little disappointing that none of the characters are able to emote anything other than bravado or anger for more than a few seconds, even when they are experiencing things that should leave long lasting emotional scars.

Gears of War 2 has an even more depressing and disturbing story line than its predecessor. Humans being tortured, inhuman laboratories that resemble internment camps, slavery and genocide all show up to make this a truly dark story which the characters don’t react to in any way other than basically saying, “well shit.” Despite this inconsistency, the story is very engaging and leaves you wanting more by the end, and the same can be said of the game play.

Any fan of action should give this game a look. It’s the personification of the chest-thumping male psyche with insanely brutal weapons, explosions and heroes that go to hell and back without being fazed by any of it. It’s a fun ride and definitely worth a look for anyone who likes to shoot things.

Making money from online games is not a new concept. It’s been around since the first online gamers were too lazy to play for themselves. Mafia wars is about as competitive as you can get for a casual game on a social network. The player versus player part makes ‘Hello Kitty Online’ look like ‘Hello Lazer Firing Mega Death Kitty Online’ but it exists, and for social networking that counts as an achievement.

This works in your favour if you want to make money from Mafia Wars. The more competitive the game, the more likely people are to throw money at you in exchange for beating their friends with the latest piece of in game kit.

There are three main ways of making money from Mafia Wars.

1.       The Mafia Wars Website

There is of course a problem with these two methods (otherwise I’d spend my time doing them rather than telling you about them – let’s be honest). It’s a saturated market. It’s so overdone you’re unlikely to stumble across something people want that they don’t already have. This is not to say it’s impossible, if you find it make use of it.  But for the rest of you, luckily I have a third method of making money from Mafia Wars.

3.       Selling Mafia Wars Items and Accounts

Yes believe it or not, people will pay real money for those Mafia Wars pixelated items and accounts. This is the easiest way of making money from Mafia Wars, and there’s a growing demand waiting for you to supply.

With a torrent of freely available Mafia Wars guides out there, I’m going to refrain from typing up another. Do a quick Google search and learn to obtain the items and accounts for yourself. But I will tell you how to sell them.

Sites such as eBay, Gumtree and Craigslist tend to remove adverts of game item sales so instead aim for website which specialise in middle manning trades between buyers and sellers for game items and accounts. You could try RealPoor.com or MarkeeDragon.com but for Mafia Wars your best friend should be playerauctions.com

Once you have a dozen Facebook accounts brimming with Mafia Wars items, and your (free) registered playerauctions.com account you’re ready to go. Try to use a name related to Mafia Wars and be careful wording your sales pitch. For your first few sales, people will be wary of being scammed so do you best to come of reliable and trustworthy.

Use other sale orders to gauge the value of your items and accounts. Undercutting your competitors price will draw more buyers to you but may start a price war. If all the sellers keep lowering their prices to beat each other, you all lose out. Try contacting the other sellers if you see this happening.

When your first buy order arrives, make the transfer as quickly as possible and leave positive feedback where applicable. Read the playerauction.com guides first and follow their policies to make sure you get paid for any goods you sell.

Making money from Mafia Wars is entirely possible. The only problem is the game itself is horrendously repetitive and dull. Once you start getting sales, have a look at automating the game play. You can buy one or create one with a macro tool such as AutoHotKey. Just be careful what you download.

I used making money from Mafia Wars as an example because of its high traffic. In reality almost any multiplayer game can work the same way. Just ensure there is a market for your sales which isn’t already saturated and you are making enough money to cover the time invested.

If you do, your friends will usually return the favour. 

2. Ask friends for gifts

It never hurts to ask. If you’re trying to build a stable, you’ll need your friends’ help to send you the items needed to build the stable.

3. Surround your character with hay bales

Doing this will prevent your character from walking, which helps you plow, seed, and harvest faster.

4. Don’t spend cash on fuel refills

Vehicles can be handy, but the limited amount of fuel can be a bummer. That’s where tip #3 comes in handy.

5. Download the FarmVille toolbar

The toolbar offers many features such as the ability to see how much time remains before you need to harvest. You cab download the toolbar here: http://toolbar.zynga.com/install/farmville/

Alternatively, you can download it by looking for the link underneath your normal FarmVille window. 

6. Help your friends out

Visit your friends’ farms and help them out. Scare away though racoons and crows! Doing good deeds for your neighbors will encourage them to return the kind favour.

7. Aim for achievements (ribbons)

Nothing makes a game more fun than achievements; it feels good to get credit for various in-game tasks. You also get rewards for completing achievements. 

8. Set a timer

Don’t let your crops die; set a timer so you know when to harvest them. This is a good method if you don’t want to download their toolbar.

9. Leave your friend a message

Plant a sign on your friends farm with a message. Chances are they will do good deeds when they visit your farm to leave a message.

10. Take it one day at a time

Try not to make money and xp your main goal in the game, as there is no limit to how far you can get. To enjoy the game more, you might want to relax and make a nice looking farm. After all, busy farmers like yourself deserve a break!

How to get a Free HoN beta key

1. Search for “Free HoN beta key” in any search engine. You’ve probably already figured this step out, as you made it here. 

2. Look for offers that make sense. Most people who give away beta keys want either a large amount of people to view their article, or they want a mass amount of people to check out their website. Places like these are generally credible, but often run out of beta keys fast. It took me a few hours before I found a good beta key offer. 

3. Avoid websites that ask for personal information (if they ask for you name, that’s not bad, but if they require your passwords or any financial information, it’s obviously a scam — so be careful where you get your beta key from). 

How to get a Free Pre-Paid HoN Account

1. Become a Fan of HoN on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/heroesofnewerth. They often offer pre-paid accounts to random fans once they reach a goal for number of fans. It’s a slim chance of getting a pre-paid account, but it’s worth a try — after all, all you need to do is become a fan.

2. Follow HoN on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Heroesofnewerth. They have a lot less followers on Twitter, which means you have an even better chance of getting a pre-paid account by following them on Twitter. In January 2010 they gave away 12 free pre-paid accounts for reaching just 2,500 followers!

3. It’s best not to trust offers of pre-paid accounts from 3rd parties, as they might be a scam. After all, why would someone buy a HoN account and give it away? Suppose it’s possible, but be cautious when searching for offers!

So far, Only 2 Episodes of Bangkok are there, and you WILL complete these VERY quickly. With 1,100 Energy and an energy pack – I got 1 job off completing the whole of episode 1.

I think it a total disappointment! Whenever you get money, you have to spend it to advance in the job storyline, even when you have the option of buying businesses. At to be honest, the money rewards aren’t really that great!

I really like the idea of getting kudos with whichever side you choose to support. Like in the other Areas, you pick who you want to help to get specific jobs. I Like that you get +3 Rep with the alliance you help, and -1 with the one you don’t.

New Collections is good, and the new fighting scheme looks promising.

 With the Beta of Bangkok recently released people are searching high and low for access. There are four loot items required in order to access bangkok, these are: A Triad Coin, located in the New York Solider Tier. Yakuza Sake, located in the New York Hitman Tier. A Thai Note, located in the New York Enforcer Tier. Now, these items have had various reported drop rates. Some say it took them days to gather these three items, I personally had little trouble and got them all in less than a full energy bar. The jobs that drop these items in the tiers are marked with a golden elephant.
 Once you have obtained the first three pieces of loot, you are ready to try and obtain a passport. Unlike the first three, the passport can be obtained in three ways. One, is ask the clerk. The clerk has a very small chance to give you the passport for free. I do not know anyone who this has worked for, but it is still worth trying. You are able to ask the clerk once every ten hours. The second way is to pay thirty Godfather points. This is the easiest way to obtain a passport but in essence, this is like paying $7.50 for the passport, when those Godfather points could be better spent elsewhere. The third way to obtain a passport is to ask your friends. Those that already have access to bangkok have a chance to obtain a passport when completing jobs. This is how I got my passport, and sure enough on my first job, I looted three more. There are plenty of passports floating around, all you have to do is ask. Although it may seem like it to begin with, the passport is not worth 30 points. They’ll be better spent on energy refills.

Unlocking achievements is a quick way to get Brownie Points, which come in handy. Achievements are also a great way to stay busy. 

2. Spend Brownie Points Wisely

Unless you’re buying Brownie Points with your PayPal or credit card (which isn’t very cheap), it takes a while to earn Brownie Points. As mentioned, achievements are a quick way to obtain Brownie Points. Completing Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Expertise’s will also get you Brownie Points. You can choose to spend them on Glam, Events, etc. 

3. Vote for Peoples’ Style

When you vote for someones’ style on Sorority Life, chances are they will return the favour by voting for you. 

4. Send Gifts

Not only will you unlock achievements such as the “Sugar Sister”, but most friends will return the favour. Everyone loves getting gifts!

5. Spend Skill Points Wisely

When you level up, you are awarded Skill Points, which can be assigned to any of your 5 skills. If you plan to attack a lot of people, spend it mainly on Stamina, Charm, and Confidence. If you prefer to Socialize (do events), then spend your points mainly on Popularity and Energy. 

6. Consider Depositing Money

Although the university bank takes 10% from any deposit, depositing can help keep your money safe, especially if you get attacked a lot. Even if you do a lot of attacking, having the money in your bank can be used towards going to the Spa.

7. Invite Friends to Join Your House

Having more friends in your house increases both your defence and attack powers. People often attack people with a smaller house size.

8. Set A Good Status

Setting a positive status message often helps you out. Don’t have a rude status set for when you get defeated. My status is along the lines of “Vote for me, and I’ll vote for you”. Ever since I set it, I’ve been getting many votes for my style. And I’ve continued to return the favour to those who vote for me.

9. Dress Well

Dressing well is a good way to get votes. It also is fun to dress up and get away from the fighting and socializing. After all, Sorority Life has a good selection of Glam that you can wear.

10. Complete Free Offers for Brownie Points

Spending real life cash on Brownie Points can be a little silly. However, they do offer Brownie Points for completing offers, some of which are free. If you’re willing to sign up with the service that offers Brownie Points, then go for it. I’ve done this, and received a good amount of Brownie Points, which I spent on limited edition items.

If you fight the same person over and over, you risk them putting your name on their Burn List, or getting their friends to attack you. The last thing you want is to make permanent enemies. 

2. Don’t Waste Brownie Points

Don’t gamble away your brownie points on events that you can’t achieve an expertise in. Brownie Points are best used towards events that you can achieve expertise in, or towards limited edition items.

3. Don’t Spend Many Skill Points on Confidence

Spending some Skill Points on Confidence is alright, but don’t spend too many on Confidence, as you can always go to the Spa to refill your Confidence. If you’re a fighter, spending skill points on Stamina would be better, as Stamina refills only with time or a level up, whereas you can pay to refill your Confidence (through the Spa).

4. Don’t Start/Quit Jobs as they Become Available

Due to the cost of training, starting new jobs as they become available can be a bad idea. I personally like to wait a few days before I start a new job, as paying for all these training costs adds up. It’s sometimes a good idea to skip a few jobs before starting a new one. 

5. Avoid Putting People on the Burn List

If someone wont stop attacking you, adding them to the Burn List is sometimes necessary. This costs you a fair bit of money, depending on your level. So unless necessary, avoid adding names to the Burn List.

6. Avoid Selling Glam

When selling your Glam, you only get 50% of it’s cost back. Socializing and Fighting are better ways to make money. Glam also helps you when fighting, and socializing earns you free Glam.

7. Don’t Attack People With a Larger House

The more sisters someone has, the better they will be at defending your attacks. If you have 20 friends in your house, then don’t be attacking people with 50 sisters. Aim for numbers around yours, as you will get better influence and cash. Attacking people with much less sisters will not make as much influence or cash.

8. Don’t Slap

It’s a waste of Stamina. It earns you nothing, just takes away confidence from your opponent. 

9. Don’t Pay Cash for Brownie Points

Spending real money on Brownie Points is a waste, unless you’re loaded. Instead, fill out free offers for Brownie Points.

10. Don’t Play Just to Level Up

Have some fun. Buy some sweet Glam. Try on some sweet outfits. Enjoy the game, don’t just slave over trying to level up.

The Secret is….Monkfish

That’s right, those fish you are able to fish upon completion of “Swan Song” ( A relatively Easy Quest) and have 62 Fishing.

Firstly, The nets need to catch them are sold in the Bank/store about 4 seconds from the fishing spots.

At about 75 Fishing, you get Monkfish VERY quickly. About 250/Hour.

Monkfish are 120 Exp/Each
Shark are 110 Exp/Each

Monkfish are accessible at an earlier level meaning you fish them much faster. They are also not cheap normally ranging between 500-750 Coins.

These ARE the fastest way to 99 Fishing. (Experience)
