Greatest NES Games

It’s not easy coming up with the top 10 NES games of all time, but here is my best effort:

10) Duck Hunt – By far, it was the best shooting for the NES> It was the reason to have the Nintendo Zapper.

9) Ice Climber – It’s a cult classic. I know it’s not the most advanced gameplay ever concocted but it’s still a blast to play, even to this day.

Metroid – A truly one of a kind a game. It started the monster series that we all enjoy today on the Nintendo Wii.

7) Zelda II: The Adventure of Link – I know it’s regarded by many as the low point of the franchise, but if people gave it a chance they will find an extremely deep game.

6) Castlevania – It’s kind of a toss up to pick which Castlevania was the best. It may not be an easy decision but there is no doubt the original is a classic.

5) Tecmo Bowl – The first game to introduce the real NFl players. This was nothing short of mind blowing in its day. To be able to play as Walter Payton or Jerry Rice was amazing. We take it for granted now, but this is what started it all.

4) Contra – The mother of all codes: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B. A, Start. If you didn’t know that code, you couldn’t have called yourself a gamer.

3) Super Mario Bros – The original. The king. What hasn’t been said about this video game already. The home video game industry may not even be here if it wasn’t for this game.

2) The Legend of Zelda – More addictive than ice cream. I must have spent all of my fourth grade year trying to beat the game. Arguably the most influential game of all time.

1) Super Mario Bros. 3 – The game was the perfect lead in to the new generation consoles and showed where video gaming was going.
