The Ooze Review

It’s a game on the Sega Genesis that never got a lot of attention probably due to the time of the release. Inside gives a review just based off the Genesis version only though probably other versions are identical.

There is a game on the Sega Genesis that never got much attention until later years in collections. This game would be called The Ooze and it is known for difficulty. Now, if you never heard of this game when it came out on the Sega Genesis, I don’t blame you at all. This game I ended up getting when I got my Sega Genesis years ago.

Story: You are Dr. Caine and have discovered something very suspicious of the corporation. In what seems to be a complete disregard to life, he has developed a hybrid plague that could destroy all of humanity. After finding out about what his know and realizing he could tell everyone about the problem, an attempt to kill him would be come to pass but really transformed into The Ooze. It is up to Dr. Caine to save the planet and restore himself back to normal.

Controls: For the most part are very responsive though sometimes if not fast enough can be tricky to grab enemies in diagonal directions. That could also be due to the controller wearing out. Mostly, it has never been a big issue and does a solid job in getting the job done.

Graphics: For the Sega Genesis, I thought they were pretty solid and you didn’t have to worry about trying to figure out what some items were. Sure, they aren’t perfect but keep in mind that was a different time than what we are living in at this time.

Game Play: The Legend of Zelda made the overview style most famous and it has that just a bit. Just be careful not to get hit in the head or else you will die. You can lose some ooze but as long as you are hit in the head, you should be ok and gain some along the way. The more you have gives you somewhat of an advantage when it comes to hitting your enemies. It also has the ability to spit out parts of the ooze that flows through you but be careful not to do it too much.

Final Score: This was a solid game and was enjoyable to say the least. It gets a thumbs up award as something that you may enjoy and that’s a bit maybe considering what you like. The difficulty in this game is bearable and sometimes a great challenge can be rewarding knowing you can complete any task possible no matter how daunting. If the game is too difficult for your taste, it may not be for you. Depending on your own outlook on challenge, it can be good or bad.
