Five Ways to Save Energy

- Don’t listen to radio via the TV. Listening to the radio via a digital TV uses 20 times more electricity than tuning in through a normal set.
- Unplug your your mobile charger. Phone chargers plugged in but not hooked up still use energy. If we all stopped doing it, enough electricity could be saved to power 16,000 homes in the UK a year.
- Switch off your game console. A Playstation’s 3 left in “idle”mode uses the same amount of energy as three 60 watt light bulbs.
- Go for a wii if you want a low energy console. Nintendo’s machine uses just 17.6 watts in game play, compared to PS3’s 187 watts and the Xbox 360’s 159.4
- Browse the product manufacture of your favourite gadgets to find their energy saving settings. A few clicks of the mouse could save you £220 a year
