Get Fit with the Wii

How many have tried the Wii Fit? I just got it and I think that it is great. At first I didn’t really believe that you could get a good workout with it, but I was wrong. It is definitely more than just a game.

The Wii Fit game is a great way to have fun and get some exercise at the same time.  I really enjoy playing video games but all that gets you is a bigger backside from sitting on the couch all day.  With the Wii Fit you can play a game and exercise all at the same time.  How great does that sound?

I tried it for the first time and I must say that I was glad I was alone when I did.  Why, you might ask?  Well, it’s bad enough knowing that you are overweight, but when a video game announces that you are OBESE, it is not exactly something you want others around to see.  Obviously people can tell that I am a little overweight (50 pounds to be exact) but to know that you are thought of as obese is another thing.

I guess this must be a couch rat.  He should try the Wii Fit.

I have tried many different exercise programs but because of my health condition (I have Fibromyalgia) it is always hard to stick to it.  A few of the exercise DVDs that I have tried are Richard Simmons’ “Sweatin’ to the Oldies”, Leslie Sansone’s “Walk Away the Pounds”, “Hip Hop Abs” (haven’t tried that one yet), “Turbo Jam” (again, haven’t tried it yet), and “Tae Bo”.

Richard Simmons is one of the leading exercise experts.  A lot of people have made a lot of rude remarks about him because of his appearance and his extremely “outgoing” personality, but he really does care about people and his workout DVDs are fun to do and you will lose weight if you stick to them.

The programs that I have tried I have enjoyed a lot.  The most recent, besides the Wii Fit, is Leslie Sansone’s “Walk Away the Pounds”.  I found that one the easiest to do because it is basically in-home walking with some light resistance training.  It is suitable for just about anyone to do, whether you are totally out of shape like me, or someone who is very fit.  She has many different DVDs to choose from, so you can select a workout from one mile up to four miles.  You can also choose to use the weights or stretchy bands, or to do the workout without either.

The Wii Fit lets you design your own character, which is called a Mii.  You can make it look exactly like yourself or you can design it to look exactly how you wish you looked.  But as soon as you take your first fitness test and step on that scale, the Wii will automatically adjust your Mii to reflect how you really are.  You can choose the setting which will hide your weight and BMI from other users of your Wii Fit, but come on, if you are fat people will know, you can’t really hide that sort of thing.  My mii wouldn’t look as bad if I had other overweight people in the house, but unfortunately I am the only one.  Well, if I keep using the Wii Fit everyday (or as much as possible) I will soon have a slim and trim Mii just like my other family members.
