How to Beat Odolwa in Zelda Majora’s Mask
After you finish going through the entire Woodfall Temple In Majora’s Mask you will face the masked jungle warrior, Odolwa. This is the first boss in the first main dungeon in Legend Of Zelda Majora’s Mask. Follow these tips to beat the boss.
This article will tell you how to finish off the first main guardian boss in Zelda Majora’s Mask. This difficultly level of this Zelda game was a lot higher compared to its predecessor, Ocarina Of Time. Here is the first word of advice, follow what your fairy Tatl says to you. Tatl will tell you to keep away from Odolwa or you will be killed.
Odolwa in the the Woodfall Temple can move quickly and uses his huge sword and shield against you. You would think that with the Deku Flower in the middle of the room, you should make use of Links ability to change into the Deku. But this isn’t necessarily the way you want to go with this battle. With the attacks that Odolwa puts on you with the fire and moths, it doesn’t seem like a good idea to use the Deku Mask. He also uses his sword, and this huge sword has a very long reach.
So if you don’t use the Deku Mask then what should you use? Try using the Bunny Mask for this fight. You’ll find this mask to be way more useful, than by using the Deku Mask.
Now when you hear Odolwa start making some kind of chant, this means that he is about to summon an attack your way. This is your opportunity to make your strike to the Windfall Temple boss. While he is doing this chanting he will be vulnerable to an attack from Link, so you will want to do one of two things. You don’t want to get to close to him still, so you want to use a long range attack.
Have Link fire an arrow at Odolwa or use bombs from a distance to stun the boss. When you fire an arrow or bomb, you will stop the summoning, which is exactly what you want to do. With the summoning stopped, he won’t be able to call any special attacks to you. While he is stunned from your arrow or bomb attack, you can also go in for some shots with your sword.
You might find that you will run out of arrows. If this happens you can get more from the bushes in the boss room. Look carefully and you will find them. It is possible to take down the Windfall Temple boss with just only arrows. However, if you can get some hits in with your Kokiri Sword, this might make the battle go faster.
Link will want to make use of his defense techniques during this boss battle. Use the Z targeting button while the boss is using his sword, to defend against his attack. Keep your shield raised up so you can have a better chance at not losing any life. When Odolwa puts the huge sword right above his head, move to the left or right as quick as you can. When Odolwa does this, it means he is getting ready to slash his sword to you.
Odolwa can also use a deadly spin attack. Simply use Z targeting for this and hold up your shield during this attack. Keep using your arrows and defending yourself, and you will finish the Woodfall Temple boss in about 20+ hits or so. Use your bombs to stun him also.
This is how you can defeat Odolwa in Legend Of Zelda Majora’s Mask. This game is now available for the Nintendo Wii with slightly improved visuals from the Nintendo 64 version. This is one of the best Zelda games even though it doesn’t take place in Hyrule. You won’t see Princess Zelda or the Triforce because Link is inside of an alternate dimension called Termina.
