Wii First Person Shooters- Are They Worth It?

This is a rundown of some of the FPS out on the wii console.

I have sampled a few of the wii fps over the last few years, and three stand out. The first of those is a game called Red Steel. A combination of gun and sword fighting gave this game an interesting concept, and overall the developers did pretty well. The graphics are not anything special for platform games, but they were quite exceptional for the wii. The level structures were also very imaginative, with many different scenarios able to be played out. The problems were that the aiming was dreadful, and the weapon choice was very limited. Without having decent equipment to deal with the aim, you cannot play the game to the level of dedication shown in other plat-formers such as halo. 6/10

A second game i would like to point out is Call of Duty 5: World at War. Although the campaign was a bit repetitive, the multiplayer ability made the game shine. Not only do you have a plethora of weapons choices, the aiming system is both accurate & customizable. The graphics were also incredible for the system, and it makes you feel like you are actually there, in world war 2. Although it does not have the imagination that red steel’s levels did, it made up for it and more with the size and attention to detail.  9/10

The last game i would like to mention is the conduit. Though it is not one of my favorite games, it deserves mention because it is a very inventive game. Though the graphics are similar to that of Descent 2, it makes up for it with the reimagioned level and weapon structure. The originality in both is astonishing, and it deserves recognition. 7/10
