How to Repair Broken Xbox 360 Controller

Before get any job started, there are few tools that you need to prepare: clean cloth, Phillip heads screwdriver, cotton swabs, rubbing alcohol, lint free cloth, camel’s hair brush, shallow dish & dish washer liquid.

Firstly, you need to disassemble the controller by put the XBox 360 controller face down on the clean cloth then remove the seven screws attached on the controller using Phillips-head screwdriver. Place those screws aside, don’t lose them. Turn the controller right side up and remove the top shell.

Next, remove and place aside all the buttons and the rubber pads. Put some warm water in a shallow dish then add in few drops of dish washing liquid and stir it up with your finger. Then wash the rubber pads and controller shell in the soapy water. Hold the controller shell and the rubber pads under cold water from the faucet. Place them aside and dry it out. Use a cotton swap moistened in alcohol and rub around the holes of the dried controller shell and controller’s buttons. Let them dry.

For the bottom part of the controller blow off with air from camel’s hair brush. Wipe the outside and lid of the bottom part of the controller with the lint-free cloth.Finally, you can re-assemble back Xbox 360 controller by put the top shell of the controller face down and put back all those buttons back into the shell follow by put the rubber pads back into the shell on top of the buttons.Put the bottom shell of the controller onto the top shell and screw back in the screws to hold the bottom and top of the controller together. Connect your Xbox controller back to console and let the game begin!
