Stolen Xbox 360 Account

What I did when my Xbox 360 account was stolen.

One day, I went out and bought 4000 Microsoft Points to purchase some stuff over Xbox Live. I entered the code, but didn’t spend any of it yet, because I was tired and went to bed. The next day I woke up and got onto my Xbox and noticed that i now had 8000 Microsoft Points! Being stupid and just thinking it was a glitch I just went crazy and spent most of it. Little did I no that that was the first sign of my account being stolen.

About a month later I started getting messages from my friends asking things like “Is this true?”. So I asked one of my friends what they were talking about, and he said I sent him a message saying to get 500 free Microsoft Points go to a website. I never sent that message to ANYONE! So thinking my account was starting to be stolen, I decided I would contact Microsoft the next day. I got back into my account the next day and noticed i had over 10,000 Microsoft Points! Freaking out at this point I called Microsoft and talked to a person for a while. He told me to go to my contact information and see if I noticed anything that wasn’t suppose to be there. There was an extra E-mail address that I did not recognize.

Microsoft then suspended my Xbox Live account so that the person that stole my account could no longer get into it, and they told me they would look into the E-mail address. A few days later i get a call from a woman in Virginia who had bought my Xbox Live account over Ebay! After explaining to me how she bought the account thinking it was an UN-used account and noticed I was on just a few hours prior to her having my account, and she called me right away. She then contacted Ebay about the guy and they terminated his account. I called Microsoft again and they said that my account should be safe and that i would be receiving an E-mail in a few days. I got my account back, thank God! Be careful not to give ANY information out over a third party website.

If anyone ever tells you to go to the site below DO NOT DO IT!

Just like with the fake paypal and ebay emails trying to get your password and account login info. Guess you need to be careful with xbox live too.

Always remember that most scams begin by preying on your greed. If you are offered something that sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Thank you for the warning, though I do not use an X-box.

I don’t own an Xbox or not am I a gamer but this is quite shocking that it happened! If it is happening to others then that is pretty shocking. I guess what you have to bear in mind is that nothing is free and if there’s something that feels too good to be true, then it probably IS too good to be true.

Gotta be careful. Wonder how much the woman paid on ebay for your account.

Nice info, but I don’t think its a good idea to link to that site. People might be tempted to click it and give the people their information.

Jack, after reading the article if they still click it and send the info. They deserve everything they get :D

Was nice to hear the person who bought the account over ebay being so honest, rare nowadays.
