Info on the Xbox 360 2010 Banwave.
As some of you may or may not know, there will be a dashboard update for the Xbox 360 to add Kinect capabilities. If you are legit and actually buying games like you are supposed to, then good for you! This dashboard update will not affect you in any way. However, if you are a pirate, and you have an Xbox with a flashed DVD drive to play burned games, you’re outta luck. Microsoft has coded a live banning system into the new dashboard to moniter what firmware your DVD drive has. If it doesn’t match what they have on file, then congrats. You are now the owner of a banned Xbox 360. This affects the “undetectable” iXtreme LT firmware as well. If you have a flashed Xbox, do not update on November 4th.

Microsoft has a “few” control issues, as a corporation, they should seek mental help as a whole. My Xbox will have another red ring of death for this update as well. Hail to the mighty Microsoft death spiral, I switched to Ubuntu. : )
It is now the second of november and I have been running the new Dash for 2 days now online with burnt games but, I’m still skeptical so until further notice from my Local “Nerds” I will most likely be playing all my titles offline mode which isn’t so bad seeing how I have like 15 20 games. I will do this Until the new mod comes out which shouldn’t be longer then a couple weeks to a month seeing how Microsoft keeps getting Older slower and stupider and our local Nerds are just getting smarter Wiser and FASTER we shouldn’t be out to long boys sit tight for now, and if you do happen to get ban then switch to a PS3 Or a Mac and teach Microsoft a lesson for Putting so much effort, time resources and money that they don’t have into banning there most valued customers were the ones that stand by 360 When our friends talk shit and say PS3s better were the ones that are on all night Gaming to the wee hours of the morning not the 9-13 year old kids who’s mommys bought them a legit system and games from local store. i have the liteon drive with ixtreme 1.6 with the boot disc will i get banned if i update because i dont know how to update the drive coz the guys charging me £40 for drive update and black ops and i still risk being banned
I have my xbox flashed with ixtreme and I updated as soon as I got the chance and im playing the new copy of Call of duty Black ops and im still not banned so i highly doubt that microsoft has figured out anything along the line of banned consoles with decent FirmWare.

I Was One of the first people to update in the world I was online playing when the update came out. Yes I updated and yes I run a Mod LT IExtreame V1.2 to be exact. I’ve been playing MW2 and NHL since I updated, but I will now be playing offline for the next couple weeks Untill the New Mod comes out which shouldn’t be too long since the “NERDS” keep getting smarter and faster with their hacking ways and Microsoft gets slower and Stupider as the company goes down the Drain!!!. If your stupid enough to go online with a mod then u deserve to be banned they Can’t get everyone but, they will get the Stupid greedy ones who can’t put thge controller down for a couple weeks. They got this new anti piracy thing on the new games like Fable 3 called AP25 which is you play with a AP25 game online u might get flagged for a ban so watch out.

I have LT not sure what version and have not got banned yet!!! It’s now 8th of novmeber the day before BLK OPs release.. I did though try backing up a copy of my OWN fable that I ACTUALLY BOUGHT and tested it and to know avail after I applied the dash upgrade.
It just says disc unreadable with no error codes or anything not sure what this means…

i’ve been playing games like fable 3, naruto uns 2 and stuff like that with my cable out and offline for a few weeks now. Haven’t been online yet with fable 3 (cable out of the xbox for 3 weeks or so). I’m planning to put it back in somewhere around december, or perhaps as some of you guys say when I get a new update for LT. Should I wait for the update of LT or just go online in a month or so from now? What do you guys suggest?

When its over we will know if our mods are still good or if we would have to upgrade the mod for future play. for now I run a LT Ixtreame 1.2 and have no problem playing old games online!!! there is no Banwave only AP2.5 for new games DO NOT play New games online. Just thought I would inform everyone here, I have just updated to the ‘kinect’ dashboard to play a ‘backup copy’ of Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and It will no longer work after using the ‘activate.iso’… But Black ops still works (and has worked fine for over a week now).. I do not play online, but now I will wait to see if there is some sort of new acticate.iso for these ‘Wave 7′ games that have ‘ap 2.5′…

I copied my back up of Black ops to a disc and played fine, I also went through the update of black ops and still worked fine….mind you I did apply the stealth patch to my copy and it passed verification.

we are still online with backups but that goof further up the page was banned with a store bought copy \\\”whatever\\\” lol as for the end of the banwave cant be long now surely its been near 2 weeks

Fable 3, New need for speed and any game that has AP2.5. A friend of mine found a website where you can put in your serial number and x digits found on the system settings and will tell you immediately if you are flagged for banning. Mine isnt and i have been online with black ops for 3 weeks, he is flagged and has been on fable 3 and need for speed. BLACK OPS DOESNT HAVE AP2.5. It applies to all games released after 9th November, black ops was the 8th. Therefore be carefull with new assasins creed etc. Good luck

If you insert a disc and it comes back with the dirty disc error, please clean with a soft cloth etc, It now says please contact Microsoft for more information at the bottom. This means you have been busted, and microsoft are aware you are playing a non legit disc. THIS WAS ADDED ON THE LAST UPDATE. Also comment

Here is what I have read in other forums such as xbox-scene. Some may be just speculation, others may be fact. I am not educated enough on the issue to say which is which, but I would like to share my findings:
1. It is possible that they can add the AP2.5 checks to a game file via an update.
2. The first signs of AP2.5 were discovered in FIFA09 by C4EVA, but AP2.5 was not active in the dash, so there were no ramifications. C4EVA monitored from then on.
3. You know you\’re flagged for banning when you play a game back up and get the \”unreadable disc error\” on the new dashboard.
4. There is a program (and I have it) called XVal2.0 that decrypts the x value found on the system info page of your console for \”known security events\” and in no way guarantees a clean system. As it works via an online server database, I can see where someone assumed it was a \”website\”
To be safe, I am keeping an offline console and not playing any games newer than halo reach on that console until LT comes out. Good luck all. Hope the ban hammer does not come crashing down upon you.
i am running ixtreme lt 1.1 on a lite on and have had the new dash for nearly a week with no backups failing to load. I used Xval 2.0 to check status after stupidly trying nfs hp which has ap2.5 (this apparently alerts microsoft about the attempt at playing a back up)
Xval says i am flagged due to a failed ap2.5 attempt but i have been online several times since with no probs and backups re playing fine too.
If i am due to be banned so be it, but for now so far so good

Hey everyone… last year at this time I was told that all of November is ban month… I forgot that my friend told me this and went online during that time… and got banned on the night of MW2.
1 year later i have been offline just before november now i do have fable 3 and what i have seen that fable 3 may be the reason you could get banned. I logged into my account and got the new dashboard and immediately signed off. The reasoning behind this will prove either logging into xbox live at ANY time in november will get you banned or that the rumor of the fable 3 bans are true. I will keep you all updated.
What do you guys mean by playing backups? That your installing burned games to the HD? Is this better than just playing the burn disk? Iv been playing burned disks and havent installed any of them to the HD.

Good news, As long you have an older xbox 360 with an older samsung or hitachi drive you seem to be safe,(an older 2009 model June-Agust or even older driver if you have one, but not sure if you can swap the drivers in a new xbox)
So all you guys (like me) that got out of the last banwave alive you seem to be able to sit this one out.

Because the older drivers do not support anti piracy 2.5, but its more safe to w8 if you ask me, Cause microsoft are tricky basterds sometimes.

heres how to find out if you are flagged for a ban…..
Instructions:
1. Turn on the xbox 360.
2. When you get to the home screen there will be no profiles found. That’s because you removed your hard drive/memory card which contained all your profiles. Easy to understand =).
3. Now go to system settings.
4. Go to Network Settings.
5. Click Test Xbox Live Connection
6. Start connection and wait for it to finish.
7. When it is done you should get a message saying to update your system. Here is another important thing you need to do DO NOT UPDATE!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT UPDATE YOUR SYSMTE!! Just click No, don’t update.
8. You should get a test connection failed message. Just click cancel.
9. After that click Y and you should get a list of numbers or codes.
Check your code under the letter Z
It should say Z: “whatever the code is”
Here are the codes to determine if your console has been banned.
Z: 8015 – 1002 means you have not been flagged yet. Hurray but still be cautious when playing online.
If it shows something other than that like
Z: 8015 – 190D, that means that you console has been flagged or banned. Sorry guys =(.

Wayno hey mate are you able to re-flash your drive with iXTREME LT+?? i flashed mines last night however i was playing online with iXTREME LT 1.2 on a BenQ Drive and still not flagged..im sure you will be fine with the older games mate..i only installed the new firmware to play backups of need for speed hot pursuit and fable 3 so im pretty certain you will be fine as long as you dont play any AP2.5 games..also which firmware do you have on your drive at the moment?

ok open your drive tray and have a look at the shape of the tray heres a link to the pics http://llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_360_DVD_Drive_Comparison.htm this is only to determine which drive you have as for telling which firmware you have you will need to hook the drive up to your pc (you can boot the drive with your console) and plug the drive into your pc via sata cable
you will only be safe to update if your are using iXTREME LT earlier versions have become detectable unfortunately 
a few people i know have been banned with ixtreme 1.51, 1.6, 1.61…so dont update unless you have LT!! yes if you want to play Fable 3, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and some other new Titles with the new dashboard update you will need the latest firmware LT Plus

hiya again mate if your drive was updated around february/march im sure u have iXTREME LT on a Lite on/Philips drive! yes you should be ok to update and play older games online even including black ops!! all the has Anti piracy 25 at the moment is Assasins Creed Brotherhood, Need for Speed Hot pursuit and Fable 3..to play them you need iXTREME LT PLUS))))))Any other games should be ok check them before playing with ABGX360!

I Extreme LT Plus is already out,I upgaded already and its the safest to play online,and you can play ap 25 games on it, i have fable 3 ac brotherhood,need 4 speed hot pursuit,and black ops,all of them backups its safe calm down people your not getting banned,i have the new update and all the latest games and im still unbanned, all you need is I Extreme LT Plus and your good.

the new kinect dashboard checks for drive firmware. he never played an AP25 game. if you have the new dashboard and change your drive firmware then banned.

After reading all comments, I updated to new dashboard and I have the LT, not LT+. Everything is okay so far. I own Black OPS & Brotherhood, but have about 135 back-ups. The back-up games are playing fine and I am online. Hopefully online for good, but we will see…I know the risk. Wish the best for all you gamers out there!
Why wouldnt you have LT ? It has been specifically made to defeat AP25, it\’s worth having regardless is it not? I am playing all KInect games online with LT – no problems. (Of course I could be flagged server side, but who knows). Just reformat your consoles HD, if you have remained offline prior, upgrade to LT , and check all games with ABGX, should be fine.

Hey ChrisJ, I do have LT. I stated I do not have LT+ which would allow me to play AP2.5 games. I own the current 2.5 games, and have several back up games which I play with no problem. I probably will update soon. Time will tell if we have both been flagged. Best of luck to both of us bro!

It asked if i wanted to update and i selected NO…. this may be it for now.. todays update came out and it seems the reason why they didn’t do the usual November ban sweep, They’re probably going to do it very shortly.

This week, both Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com will receive small updates that I wanted to make you aware of.
Xbox LIVE Dashboard update:
On Wednesday, January 19th we will issue a mandatory dashboard update that (re) enables the ‘Boot to Disc’ option in the Xbox 360 dashboard. After you accept the update, you’ll be able to set the option to boot to the Xbox 360 dashboard OR directly to the game you have in the tray when you power up your console. This option can be found in the System Settings.
Xbox.com update:
Additionally, on Thursday January 20th the Xbox.com team will ship an update that contains a small update to the Gamercards. We’ve updated the Gamercard look and feel a bit and removed gamerzone from the card. Other than that, the same amount of information is on the card. Here is an example:
Anyone notice the update this morning to the Xbox 360? Well it was disguised as a new sequence start up for disk playing, how ever its been sugar coated with a piracy check. The check only works when attempting to play either Call of Duty: Black ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Halo: REACH. It seems Microsoft is attempting to protect the big boys when it comes to piracy on the Xbox 360. Should you play one of these games you will get a “this disc cannot be recognized” message and will more then likely be flagged for a ban.
Currently the only fix is to plug out your Xbox 360 and play offline or update your console and avoid those three games I listed. Seems the Microsoft vs Hackers war is back on it’s feet.

What happens when you try to play? the 3 games
When you put the game in it will start to boot, but it will get stuck at a black screen and you will not be able to eject the disc drive. Also you can’t exit back to your dashboard.
^This will only happen if you have iXtreme LT+ on your drive. Any other firmware it will say unreadable disc and flag you for banning. This is a safety feature in LT+ to not play bad burns or burns missing AP25 data so you don’t get flagged for banning. If you want to check if you are flagged to be banned, go to google and search for a program called XVAL 2.0
@Xboxgamer I have been Thinking of joining xbox live again with my modded xbox 360 that has a liteon drive with LT+,i will be playing games like black ops,reach,ac brotherhood,mw2,if they fail to boot properly will i be flagged for ban?

yes your safe to do the update with LT PLUS just re-burn your games if you scan the games you have just now with ABGX360 you will find there are AP25 re-play sectors missing i found this with my Black Ops and my Modernwarfare 2 also NFS Hot Pursuit has some file missing all older Call of Duty games have come back ok for now

I just got my old 360 (with a busted laser) fixed and modded with iextreme lt 1.1plus while I was at it. I dont know if it was just a Drive flash or chip? The xbox has the older dashboard on it ( the green xbox start screen- still has avatars though)
I was planning on using it offline and use my other unmodded xbox(elite) for online
If I do an update on my modded xbox to get the current dashboard on it, what will happen to my mod? Will it get detected like the 1.1 or is it fine cause of the plus?

KABIR if you can connect to xbox live and chat you have not been banned it may just be that the mod u have doesnt allow you to play modded call of duty games as my xbox was modded 6 weeks ago and i cant play the copied mw2 disk i have.

As leaked a few days ago, Microsoft is rolling out the new dashboard upgrade (2.0.13146.0) starting today. We of course suggest people with a modified DVD FW do NOT update for now until the update has been analysed, but as we know from the beta dashboards this update will probably flash your DVD firmware with a new one (mostly done to support the XGD3 disc format). If you decide to upgrade anyway, we HIGHLY suggest you get your DVD KEY before the update. You can then eventually try to reflash the modified FW after the update is done. But a new modified FW will probably be required (certainly to support those new XGD3 discs).

We recommended that you use the latest version of ImgBurn (v2.5.5.0
at the time of writing, downloadable at

handle this process differently and/or give a different set of
errors
Although it is set by default in ImgBurn, please ensure that under
Tools > Settings > Write, you have “Layer Break (For DL Media)” set
to “Calculate Optimal”
Please ensure that the layerbreak is set as 2133520 in the .dvd file
If you already have the XGD2 (or other) layerbreak value set in
ImgBurn, the .dvd of the XGD3 ISO will override that setting and use
the proper layerbreak
As mentioned above, ImgBurn will automatically reposition/limit the
layerbreak to 2086912 when burning to regular DVD+R DL discs

of the errors you’ll encounter in ImgBurn and what to click on in
each dialog that pops up
Step by Step:
1. Choose “Write image file to disc”, and after loading the .dvd
file, click “Write”
2. ImgBurn will pop up a notice saying that there is not enough
space on the disc to burn the image, and asks if you would like to
continue anyway. Click “Yes”
3. Another message might pop up saying that optimal layerbreak
position exceeds L0 capacity. Click “Yes”
4. An error will then pop up noting that “Set L0 Data Zone
Capacity Failed”. Click “Continue”
5. The image will begin writing to the disc
6. Nearing the end of the write process, ImgBurn will pop up an
error at around 97% or 98% (this is what we want — it’s
intentional!). Click “Cancel”
7. A notice will then pop up asking if you would like ImgBurn to
try and perform the “‘Close Track/Session/Disc’ functions”. Click
“Yes”
8. Let the disc finalize, and you’re done!
