A Guide to The Nintendo Wii Monster Hunter Tri Monster Bashing RPG

A back to the basics article on Monster Hunter Tri.

Back to the Basics

In this edition, we will be going back and looking at some of the basics of the game, from what one should always have in one’s supply box, as well as the basics of how to beat Alatreon. We will also be looking at the Event and Arena quests that are posted this week. This information may be familiar to many of you. If it is, perhaps it will be a good reminder of sound Monster Hunter practices. For new players, I hope the information this week will provide some helpful tips for improving your monster hunter skills. So grab a cup of coffee, tea, or soda, sit down, and enjoy the read. I realize Monster Hunter tri for the Wii has been out for quite a while, but I find many new players, and even a few higher rank hunters sometimes, who could use a few reminders about items use and box supplies, so here goes.

Box Supplies

Let’s talk about box supplies. For new players, your box is like a storage chest in a bedroom. It holds all the accessories you will need to put in your pack before you leave on a quest. The reason you need the box is because your pack can only hold a limited amount of items. Your box holds all the supplies you can’t keep in your pack. It’s basically a supply depot for replacing in your pack the items you have used after a hunt. I have run into many hunters who, before embarking on a quest, ask for someone to give them what are simple to stock, basic necessities for any hunt. We’ll be looking at what these items are, and how to get them.

·        Herbs: Herbs are used to make potions. They can be foraged in Moga woods and grown at your farm. They are also sometimes quest rewards. They can also be purchased at the Guild Store if you have the money (they are relatively cheap).

·        Blue Mushrooms: These, combined with herbs, are used to make potions. They can be obtained in the same way as herbs.

·        Honey: This can also be foraged in Moga Woods and farmed. It cannot be purchased. You can, however, sometimes get honey online by trading Sharpened Fangs for it at the Trading Post online. Sharpened Fangs are easily obtained in low rank quests at the Sandy Plains map. Kill the Delex in the desert at Sandy Plains and carve them. When you carve them, you will often get sharpened fangs. This can be done offline and online. Honey is critical because it is combined with Potions to make Mega Potions.
