Black Ops Review

A review of Black Ops.

I’ve heard of the COD series before and I decided to give it a try on my Xbox. The game completely blew away all shooter games I’ve ever heard before. This review will give a brief view of the game to COD veterans and newcomers to the series alike.

Campaign: There are 15 missions in the game. The campaign revolves around Alex Mason, a US soldier being held captive by two interrogators. Most of the missions are played through by flashbacks. You begin in a covert mission in Cuba, then move on to a prison break in a Russian labor camp. You meet a returning character to the series, Viktor Reznov who is your ally for several levels. As the missions progress on, it’s clear that something is not right and a plot to send nerve gas around the USA is exposed. This campaign is very thrilling and you get a good feeling once you beat it.

Multiplayer: One of the most important parts of COD. Players can play against other players online. A new addition is the new Combat Training which lets players test their combat skills with or without friends on AI soldiers. I found this very useful to prepare online. There is also a new currency in the game called CODPoints that allows you to buy new guns and equipment. The multiplayer is very thrilling and makes you feel like you’re fighting a war in your own living room or basement.

Pros: Amazing multiplayer and campaign, great graphics, well written, extremely realistic, basically mostly everything

Cons: The game is hard to get used to at first and I found myself struggling for the first week, this game may be offensive to some, the multiplayer is hard for newcomers to first person shooters because players often have to fight against veterans to the series
