Rumor: Call of Duty Online Will Release Out of China?
As known previously, Call of Duty Online (Online COD) is only planned for release in China. Surely this makes other fans of Call of Duty series envy with Chinese gamers who get the “honor”. But it seems the release of COD Online outside of China is a possibility.
In a question and answer session at the Meeting of the second quarter of 2012 Financial Activision Blizzard, Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision gives an indication that the COD Online will be released in other regions other than China. Hirshberg revealed when asked whether micro-transaction business models such as the Online COD can be successfully applied in the West. Hirshberg then said that Activision saw a good opportunity when he decided to release a COD Online in China. With this, Activision had the opportunity to learn the business micro-transaction model that applied highly prevalent in China. Then Hirshberg also said that China is not the only region where the model micro-transaction widely applied, but there are also some other areas which would be able to provide the same knowledge. But Hirshberg immediately divert the answer by saying that what he said earlier it is not yet a definite plan.
Could it be that what is said by Hirshberg may be a clue? But apparently, if it is true later on, gamers in other regions still have to wait a long time since COD Online China’s own server which will be published by Tencent Games are still not sure when it will be released.
