The Many Easter Eggs of “Der Riese”
Call of Duty: World at War.
1: Commander of Zombies
Near the main frame and next to the stairs 360near the window, you will find a telephone like device. Activate the phone, and you will be able to hear a man, shouting commands to a zombie, when then the zombie attacks him and another man kills it. The first man will say “Bring me another test subject.”2: Playing with Monkeys
For this one, you need to have some luck with our good friend “Random Weapon Chest.” You will need to get the Monkey Bomb. Once you have the monkey bomb, run to the furnace, which is in the area after the you open the second door. Once you get to the furnace, go around and throw a Monkey Bomb in there. You’ll hear a little girl that sounds a lot like Sophia talking about playing with a monkey.3: Who let the dogs out?
There is a furnace near the teleportor on the left. Activate it, and you will hear the same man from “Commander of Zombies” directing one of his associates that he demands it be strapped down while a Hell Hound is barking in the background. After this, he tells his associate to activate something, at which point they realize the Hell Hound is gone.4: Recalibrate the thingy!
Just like “Who let the dogs out?” this one is near the right side teleporter. Activate, and you hear once again, the same man, shouting in frustration about how his “Test subjects” do not follow his orders. His associate tells him to abort the project, and the mystery man’s name is revealed when he says so too: Dr. Maxine. Dr. Maxine is quick to yell at his associate yelling at him to recalibrate the system.5: Zombies are people too!
This one is on the opposite side of the mainframe. Activate it, and you hear Dr. Maxine once again frustrated, yelling at his daughter, Sophia, to leave immediatly. She responds with a calm “Those men are acting strange.” At this point you hear zombies and Hell Hounds, followed by Dr. Maxine, Sophia, and some of the workers screaming.6: Elevate your Senses
On the left side of the map, after opening one of the doors, there is a window. Walk up to the window, and scope using a PTRS so you can see a control panel. Shoot it, and you will then see a Monkey Bomb, a Molotov, a Bowie Knife, and a Teddy bear. This will enter you into a mini-game in which you must find the Teddy Bear’s and a Monkey Bomb. Once you shoot the control panel, you will get “Elevate your Senses.”7: True Story!
Not quite an Easter Egg, but certainly interesting. I’m not quite sure if this is where they got the idea of “Nazi Zombies!” from, but it is said that in WW2, Hitler many times attempted to reanimate fallen soldiers.8: Please don’t stop the music
Those neon green jars filled with brains and spines. Press X in front of all of them, and the “Beauty of Annialation” song will play. I love that song…9: Help Signs
Scattered throughout the level, on top of roofs and other large flat surfaces, you can find signs made out of pillows and other items, spelling out things such as: “SOS” and “HELP.”10: Free Coins!
If you go up to a perk vending machine, and crouch or go prone for a small amount of time, you will receive 25 points/coins. Maybe someone left their change?11: Please watch your children
Near the Juggernog perk, their is a small sign that reads “Unsurpervised Children will be instantly sold to the circus!” This note is also found in other Nazi Zombie levels.12: Mmm, Cyanide!
There is a messege that you can read on the air conditioning unit below the bridge, assuming you have a scoping weapon that can zoomk in so you can read it. It reads: “In the event of any critical failure, you are instructed to take your cyanide tablet that’s included in your field operations kit. In the event that you have misplaced yours, there are several methods that will accomplish the same task. For example, the best” and it ends there.13: Bathing in Nazi zombie blood!
When your playing this, if someone checks the “Who’s online” your Gamertag will say you are “Bathing in Nazi Zombie blood.”
