Counter Strike: Source – Full Download (No-Steam)
A little tutorial on how to full download CS:S.
If your having a problem with anything always check the comments below, your problem may be already answered or you can let me help you by posting there your problem
Hello there, today I’m going to show you how to download CS:S and play online!
First of all you’ll need to download Ares. Ares is a online program that lets you upload your own files and download the ones that other people uploaded. In this tutorial I chose Ares because it’s a fast way to download heavy files, and if you turn off your PC or the Internet disconnects it’ll start right after the Internet is connected. To download Ares click here. After Ares is installed open it. Go to “Search”, select “Softwares” and search for “Counter Strike Source Digital Zone”. Only 1 file should appear, but if more than 1 appears double-click the one wich title is exactly: Counter-strike source – full 07-07-2005
(NOTE: If you can’t find the file click here to download it without searching, you still need Ares to be installed)
Ares should now be downloading it, it’ll take some hours so just click on the “X” (don’t worry it won’t exit Ares, you can always open it again double-clicking on the Ares icon on the bottom-right corner near the time).
While Ares downloads it you can use the time and download the patches, but if you’re computer is slow I don’t recommend very much.
To play the game online you need at least the Patch 17, so search “CSS_Patch_v1_TO_v16_18-12-2006-DZ” (copy the name) to find the V1 to V16 patch, the one you should download is the one wich user is “SandroTheDarkness” (myself), and then do the same with the V7 patch “CSS_Patch_v17_04-04-2007-DZ”.
Now all 3 files should be downloading in Ares.
Now after the Ares download is completed, go on Ares then on the “Transfer” label, if you aren’t already on it, and double-click the file to open it. The installer will show up, so install the game. After it’s installed run the Patch V1 to V16. After it’s on Patch 16 run Patch V16 to V17, wich unlike the others will be much faster.
Now if you go on the game and try to play online, the only servers that’ll be there will be some messages saying to update server list, so that’s what we gotta do now. Download the new Server List here and put it on: …/Counter Strike Folder/platform/config. And now yes, you’re ready to play Counter Strike: Source [No-Steam]
FAQ
Q. Why do some servers say that we need Steam Validation?!
A. Those servers we’re created on Steam games, since this is the Non-Steam version you can’t play them. Sorry but you can only play No-Steam servers.
Q. Can I get banned for cheating on VAC-Secured servers?
A. No you can’t. Valve Anti-Cheat servers will only kick you and say that you have been banned, but that only happens on Steam games so if you’re using No-Steam your safe.

ive got a problem with that. if i change the MasterServer data and start the game, the list is resetted. i dont see any server…
did you put it on the right folder? when you start the game and go to the server list it doesn’t show any right? check if you don’t have anything on the filter and also check if you’re on the “Internet” tab, then try “Refresh All”
Yeah i did everything exactly how u explained it. But evry time i start the game, there are no servers. And when i leave the game again and open the config-folder and paste the Master Server.vdf in it the computer asks me, if i want to overwright the old MasterServer.dvf (184Kb) with Yours (384Kb)…..
Ok, i finally got it^^ In my (German) Windows XP i have to allow all the things, that come from other computers. Son thank you man, CS:S for free is nice^^

It does work, you just have to wait a little time
The time it takes depends on your computer, the download on Ares was 7 hours for me, but you can leave it open while your not on home or while you do anything else, but its worth waiting
so wait if its done downloading what do we do
while it downloads you can download the patches and serverlist (both links in this article)
also I was wrong, I redownloaded CS:S yesterday and it only took me 2 hours
oh wait i got the question wrong, if its done downloading on ares the progress bar should be green, then double-click it and it will open the file, the rest is easy i think
hmm… my ares doesn’t seem to find the Cs:S search.
did you search it correctly? by searching for
Counter Strike Source Digital Zone
my ares automatically find it and only it =/ make sure you search for it correctly, if you still dont find it then i dont know =/

I tried to download CSS in a computer of a friend of mine, and his Ares also couldn’t find it, try selecting the option “Software” to search for Software only and it should be able to find it
On my friend’s computer it worked, so I don’t know if it’ll work in yours but you should give it a try

NVM for the question before but now i got a problem D:!!
whenever i run counter strike source this engine error comes up and says “platform error:module failed initiliaze” then after i press ok i get a hl2.exe – application error saying “the instruction at 0×0fba3e2 referenced memory at 0×0d1fa1a0.The memory could not be read click ok to terminate the program
wait wait im sorry i figured out the problem…..but umm i got a question how do i put the new server list on the config folder?? it wont let me put it there because i cant open it…..
after you download the new server list, you must open your conter-strike folder and go to the platform folder, and then the config folder. If somewhy you can’t see the folders just add “/platform/config” at the adress bar, and paste the new server list there. If you still can’t find it please post here the location of the CSS folder so I can help you more (Eg. C:/Program Files/Counter-Strike Source)
If that’s not your problem, please explain what you do and what happens

yeah it probably is the same, since it has the same name and size, still I don’t guarantee that that one is safe to download

to check if Ares is downloading it, double-click it’s symbol on the right-bottom corner and check the Transfers tab, it should show there. If there isn’t an Ares symbol there, then probably Ares either isn’t on, or you already have it opened

Thanks SO much man, I spent weeks typing in different phrases to see if i could find any SAFE ares downloads but no luck! Do you also know how to put free music on your Ipod Touch without a lot of work? I dont want to wipe out the music i already have though.

Patch 1 to 16 version is no longer working, by the way can you add your server you want to play? for e.g. i download it only to play zombie mode, will i be able to play and add my servers? dude answer as quick as posible coz i aint gonna spend a lot of my time here. And also THNX its helps

well, Longer upp, It says that Only one file should Came upp, if it comes more than one, You have to Choose : Counter-strike source – full 07-07-2005,
But it was a Lot of files Whit that name…. så when i am at ares, all of them are Marked With blue, sååå i dont know about iwe don right ore wrong??

check the User of all those files, they should all work but I recommend the one that says that the user is SandroTheDarkness (me), because that’s the one I downloaded

Don’t know what’s your problem because when I downloaded Ares it didn’t ask me for a key, try downloading another one, it’s safer than looking for a free key

In progress, when the bar is green it means it’s completed, to show the percentage go to the Control Panel label, then to the Transfer one, there check the box that says “Show transfer percentage”

So if Ares asks for activation code i should redownload it?
I’m getting an error window that says Engine error:
available memory less than 128MB!!! – 1

Heyy I downloaded counter strike source in ares (works perfectly) but I’m not sure what you do with the patches. I downloaded them both but it seems they are the same thing when I installed them they are both (FLX Player X) pl someone help me I want to play online? and does anyone have another link to download the patches thanks.

I downloaded 2 other supposedly nonsteam css, but they both need steam cd key when I start up the cs. If I close the cd key dialog then cs closes itself… Do these nonsteam servers require cd key??

What if you already have CSS installed, do you still have to do allll of this?
