How to Burst-Fire and Aim Accurately in Counter-Strike: Source
A guide on how to aim better and burst correctly in Counter-Strike: Source.
Anyone who is looking to join a league such as CAL or ECO in Counter-Strike: Source usually wonders how they can improve their aim.
One step to improving your aim is to use a lower sensitivity, its hard to pinpoint a shot when your crosshair is too sensitive to land on their head. Sometimes it can hurt you if you use a sensitivity too low, for example, when someone comes behind you and you cant turn enough to get a shot. So be sure to use a sensitivity that is just right.
Another way to improve your aim is to make your own LAN server by clicking “Create a Server” and set the bots to join a specific team (The one opposite of the team you are looking to practice guns with) set the number of bots to your liking. After you create the server open your console (~) If that does not work go into “Options > Keyboard > Advanced and click Enable Developer Console” If you do not want the bots to shoot at you while you practice your shot, type “Sv_Cheats 1″ then “bots_dont_shoot 1″ also to get the number of bots you previously set in the Create a Server place you need to type in “Mp_limitteams 100″ this allows the number of bots to join.
The main thing to practice is your Snap-Shots / Flick shots. This is how well you can go from one targets head to the next.
Gun Guide for AK-47 and M4A1 Carbine
With the AK-47 it is more important to get a headshot than several body shots. If anyone has ever told you to aim at the feet and spray, ignore them. With the AK you need to do 1 to 2 shot bursts. The AK’s recoil is much greater than the M4’s so you need to fire in smaller bursts. As you burst, you need to move your crosshair down as you shoot. With a crosshairscale of 1200 you should move your crosshair downwards about half the size of the 1200 scale crosshair (you can check by typing “cl_crosshairscale in console, it will be on the drop down tab) that is about all you need to know about the AK and how to burst it. Here is a demo of me doing a 1-2 shot burst with the AK-47. http://rapidshare.com/files/263135378/akburst.dem.html
With the M4A1 Carbine rifle, its good to get headshots (obviously) but it is also good to get body shots since the M4’s recoil is not as great as the AK-47’s, with the M4 it is easier to spray, but dont do this unless its like a last chance situation. The way to burst with an M4 is to fire in 4-5 or 5-6 burst sequences. Its the same concept as the ak when it comes to moving your crosshair just do it slower than you would with the AK. I also prefer using the M4 Un-silenced. Using it un-silence adds an extra 4-5 damage per shot, you should really only use it silenced if you are flanking or playing in a 1-way-smoke. Here is a demo of me doing a 5-6 shot burst with the M4. http://rapidshare.com/files/263135085/m4burst.dem.html Sorry but I had to make them .dem files and upload them
*Note* To be able to play these demos you have to download and put them in your cstrike folder. To do this you have to go into “My Computer” – “Program Files” – “Steam” – “Steamapps” – “your username” – “Counter-Strike: Source” – “cstrike” just drop the .dem files into the folder. After that start up CSS and type “playdemo akburst” or “playdemo m4burst”
Glock 1-2 Shot Burst Fire Method
The method I like to use with the glock is the 1-2 Shot Burst method. This is when you shoot 2 bullets on Semi-Automatic setting and then hold down your mouse button that switches modes between Semi Auto and Burst and just keep holding it until you reload, then redo this process. I prefer this because you get 2 accurate shots and then the bursts for short range like on Pistol Round rushes. If you’re at a distant range be sure to stay on semi automatic though.

This was my gun guide for improving your shot in Counter-Strike Source, Good luck on your teams and in your leagues if you play in them. Have Fun!

I have also been searching for flash games to improve aim, but i guess it comes with a lot of practice and experience. I have however, found a game that is close to counter strike as in it uses similar weapons and head shots count so it’s good for practising your aim. Play it here http://www.khelbeta.com/playgame/143/vinnies-shooting-yard-5.html
