Crossfire – a Z8games Game
A Review of Z8Games’ game Crossfire a free, online FPS game.
Hello readers and welcome to my review of Z8Games’ Crossfire. It has been officially released January 30th 2009 although Open Beta had been in effect prior to this. It uses the Lithtech Jupiter game engine. Users of Counter-Strike will find this a similar game.
Crossfire is a online, free FPS (first person shooter) game developed by SmileGate. It is completly free but has the option to buy ZP be used to buy extra’s and can also be used on all games by Z8Games.
Crossfire features two teams, Black List (terrorist) and Global Risk (anti-terrorist). The player picks a team and fights in a range of modes Team Death Match, Search and Destroy, Free-For-All, Elimination and Ghost Mode (See Below).
The game has a story line even though chances are none of the player have read it as it doesn’t come into the game at all.
The game is exactly like Call of Duty minus the extremly impressive graphics (however for a free game the graphics are quite good) and microphone uses. Although no gun sets are available to make, there are bags which can hold 1 primary gun , 1 side arm, 1 knife / battleaxe and 1 grenade (this can be expanded by buying an optional extra).
There is clan system present with Crossfire and is a quite successful idea. Clans can recruit fellow friends or games and post messages on the Crossfire Message Boards advertising their clan. And while mentioning the forum system I would like to say its a very good one , its categorized into several groups including Clan posts and announcements.
The game modes of Ghost Mode is a new concept that is original to Crossfire. The idea is that Black List (Terrorists) are under a form of cloaking device which allows them to be invisible, however they cannot use guns and are equipped with a knife / battleaxe(if purchased) they must destroy either A site or B site with a bomb equipped to one of the team members. While standing still the Black List members are completely invisible, however when they travel they become visible to the Global Risk team (Anti-Terrorists). The Global Risk must stop the bomb from going of be that by killing off the Black List team or deactivating the bomb at one of the sites. The Global Risk members are equipped with guns as normal. This mode although fun and original is facing abuse from “hackers” which are actually people who use 3rd party software to be able to see ghosts and have other perks such as speed hacks (make you travel faster) and aimbot (kills people). Z8Games are trying to combat these people with regular updates to their security system.
Crossfire is played by registering a account with Z8Games and downloading the client, and their other game Metin2 is also available to download
I play this game often and find it an enjoyable experience. This game defiantly has potential for the future.
Gameplay 9/10 , Graphics 6/10 , Idea 10/10
Hope to play you soon , happy shooting.
