The Next Elder Scrolls

How the newest version of the game should look and feel.

Alright first of all we need the info about TES V. In 2007 or 2008 Paul Oughton (publishing executive for Bethesda) Said “At the moment we’ve got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there’s a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010,” said Oughton. “At the moment we’re not that interested in the Wii. We’re going to stick to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We’ll continue to pursue three or four titles a year and go for big titles,”

Todd Howard, Bethesda’s executive producer, said to Reuters “I think it’s good for people to miss things. Ten years between ‘Fallout’ is a bit long, but I think there’s this nostalgia factor.”. Howard also suggests that 3 years is a “good time frame” between games, leading many reviewers to a conclusion that Fallout 4 is scheduled to come in 2011. Although this being said you must take into account what Todd Howard said during his QuakeCon 2009 keynote:

“We are working on our next big game but we are not talking about it,” but he also said that there are no “current plans for another games in that series [The Elder Scrolls]“

All this has sparked major debates all over the Internet but my take on all this is that if Mr. Howard is not talking about the next game, why would he leave any doubt the TESV is coming out at all, maybe he just wants to keep it all a secret and if not, well then he said that there are no “current” plans so that leaves room for the company to go back to the good old TES series.

But any ways that’s the information and here’s my TES V wish list

Alright personally I believe that there are quite a few of things that need to be changed/introduced here are a few:

  1. The ability to own more stuff like shops and what-not
  2. Have a co-op option, not a must do option but choose able
  3. Ability to interact with NPCs more like being able to befriend them and if you get into a bar fight they will jump in with you, or having relationships
  4. Being able to buy an architects design an buy a plot of land and build or hire builders to build it for you (Customisable parts?)
  5. Randomly generated population, like the game will make a random or preset NPC at the start of the game and name it and whatnot and you will be able to interact accordingly
  6. A really cool thing (Impossible?) would be to have a city that has moving stores, you know like when you start a new game some pre generated NPC has started up a store where a house was last game, but instead of dining tables there are shelves and when you leave for like two years some stores shut down and others open. Like have some places that have the ability to be a hotel or a mannor or a shop.
  7. What about a preset level for all the creatures and NPCs so that when i start the game and i walk off the road in a “bad neighbourhood” I will be ownaged but if i level up enough i will be the one doing the ownageing in that same neighbourhood, also I want to be able to brag about beating an ogre less than a minute after starting the game LOL and if they (humans only though as creatures don’t train?) leveled up as THEY train i.e. humans going to the gym? but just not leveling with me, so there is really good variety but if i don’t exercise that skill i want to be taught a lesson (but only humans)!
  8. I personally believe that there needs to be more equipment like non-defensive clothes but also more defensive clothes and bring back some of morrowinds weapons… come on they were cool!
  9. Being able to work as a merc would be awesome, like you could work for good or evil bosses e.g. work as bad merc you destroy a small settlement of innocents or a good merc will be defending that settlement10. Having a companion, you know like fallout 3 it gets a bit lonely when you’re on a 4 week hike killing bandits and slaying monsters, finding alchemical ingredients and what not, especially if its not multiplayer compatible.
  10. Being a raider would be awesome, go out to some “crews” and see if they will take you in and got to cities and steal stuff, kill people, extort, threaten you know become the elder scrolls mafia. Hey maybe even make your own gang and structure it and all
  11. More joinable factions. I want to be a corrupt imperial legion and I believe that more joinable guilds would rock, you know like morrowind with the Houses and other stuff like knights templar and whatnot none of this 3 joinable guilds (fighters, magers, thieves) and lots of smaller groups (knights errant, blades etc.). We need lots of big AND smaller groups/guilds
  12. Fighting from horse back, it would rock wouldn’t it going full tit ahead and a bandit jumps out then you slice him up in one hit and goes crying to his mummy (or mommy for you Americans).
  13. Decapitation. Like number 14 what about you slice his head off, or you’re right arm gets chopped off and you are forced to use one handed weapons or your left leg get burnt off and you hobble and run slower LOL that would rock! Haha watching adoring fan hope to you on one foot, imagine that!
  14. Finally a better economy like if you steal all of the shops stuff it will shut down, and merchants only have a certain amount of gold and that varies depending on the time of day and amount of business that you do with them, like if you sell them lots of shitty stuff it will sell more “lower quality” items

I think much more could be changed (trust me i could go on for ages) but there is also a lot that needs to be kept the same. Here’s a few:

  1. DON’T change the era, its fine. I like it
  2. NO guns, it would ruin the game feeling
  3. 100% MMO is a no-no
  4. FAST – TRAVEL i love it so we need to keep it
  5. LOCKPICK minigame, i think it is real cool, but make it real time so your not in public for hours and no-one sees a thing
  6. The fighting is fine for me, just add V.A.T.S
  7. Keep ownable houses, don’t go back to Morrowind were one stronghold and that was it
  8. Don’t remove any races, add some and i’m fine but if you take away some, i’ll use the MACE OF DOOM on your ass! Lol.
  9. Rival raider gangs, it was fun going to Rockmilk cave for a day of watching fighting, looting the dead, killing the winners (LOL the blackbow bandit thinks, ‘Yea I rock I kicked that mother – oh shit who is he!) and saving that chick orcs ass was fun!
  10. Arena, it rocks keep it that way. Do some betting, watch some fights, be in some fights. Although if it was multiplayer that would be cool.
