How to Surf on Team Fortress Two
A basic guide with tips on how to surf on Team Fortress 2.
Surfing is a basic but fun skill to have. You can surf anytime while maintaining the aspect of Team Fortress 2. It is hard at the beginning but keep trying and you’ll have it soon!
Basic Rules
1. When on a surf map, pick a class that fits you. Scouts go faster then all the classes but they all pick up speed at some point (unless you failed epicly at the start).
2. If the slant is on the left side, hold left. Example: I am on a surf map and i spawned on BLU’s side. Each team uses one side of the ramp at the beginning. BLU is on the right side so i’m using the left side of the ramp. When i start surfing, i hold “a” or the left arrow key. You always want to be pushing against the ramp.
Picking up speed
3. At the start of the ramp, surf down to the bottom of it to pick up speed. Try to keep going up and down a little to maintain that speed. When you get to the end of that particular ramp, go up to the end real fast to shoot off and get to the next ramp/a high place.
4. When landing on a ramp that is going in a different direction then the one you came off, try to land on it the way you are going to go. That helps to keep the speed going and if you need to, go down to the bottom again and shoot off the top when you reach the end.
Tips
1. As a scout, never double jump or you will lose your speed.
2. Scout again, if you have the FaN (Force-a-Nature) you can shoot at the ground to make you go higher when off a ramp. Remember to shoot straight down to gain height.
3. For a soldier, you can turn around a shoot a rocket by your feet at the end of the ramp to try and get far. I would recommend you stick with basic surfing until you get the hang of it and then feel free to try anything you want!
I hope this guide helps you to learn how to surf and have a great time playing Team Fortress 2!
