Lollipop Chainsaw

The latest zombie game out on consoles.

                                                                       Lollipop Chainsaw.

On June 12th at 12:01 in the morning the latest zombie obsessed video game hit the stores and brought with it a turn on a dried out genre. Lollipop’s leading lady is Juliet a high school cheerleader with a secret she is also a zombie killing, butt kicking tough girl. Suda 51 had a hand in the making of this game and it shows if you have ever played Shadows of the Damned then you know what to expect when the adult only story line kicks in. The game is currently in my PS3 and I have been hacking away ( no pun intended) since yesterday, as soon as it starts you get right into the thick of things after a little back story from our main squeeze Juliet, the game is smart enough to start off with a in game tutorial and one thing i like right away was the fact that it doesn’t pop up to tell you something and then dissapear you have to click X to continue on. The intro stage is mainly a buildup of what to do and how you do it along with rescuing your boyfriend only to watch him get bitten but fear not Juliet saves her man by decapitation..yep you read right and as you progress you man can help as a weapon and be attached to headless zombies to do some of the more explosive things that need done. Jimmy Urine does most of the music and is one of the bosses you face in the game, as for the boss fights I have only done one at the time of this writing and I can say they are not easy at all. The game does let you buy power ups and moves as well as reward you after boss fights with new equipment. One thing to know is that you will have to master jumping and cutting to keep that health bar up! The one advantage is your super meter called sparkle hunting once it is full you can take down some of the tougher zombies with one swipe of your trusty chainsaw, the down side is that it seems to take a while to build the meter back up so use it wisely. Now as for graphics they do not dissapoint the unreal engine is used and still looks as crisp as ever. Replay value is up there since once you complete a stage you have the option to return and complete different modes so that you can rank up on leaderboards across the world. When this game was first announced I immediatly reserved it at my local GameStop, when I did I was rewarded with bonus items on the day of pick up, the items in reference are two new costumes for Juliet on is titled Ash and takes heavily from the Evil Dead movies, the other is a Jimmy Urine’s outfit, there are collectables galore and depending on the difficulty level you can find them easily or have to go on a adventure to find said items.
