Most Memorable Mario Games

My favorite Super Mario games, ranging from the NES to the N64.

Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros was the first Mario game I had ever played. This game was so simplistic, yet so fun. Running around, stomping those goombas, grabbing onto flag poles, it just doesn’t get old. It was the start of the surprisingly fun tactic of fighting through castles, only to find Peach wasn’t in them until the last one.

Super Mario Bros. 3

A game has never been announced as epically as Super Mario Bros 3. In The Wizard, giant metal doors open up, showing the brand new game. This time Mario was back, this time with a map screen with items you can use during it. Going around from castle to castle, saving kings, getting closer to Peach. Even though this game seemed to be the work of Satan (Angry Video Game Nerd reference), it was epic.

Super Mario World

Now on the Super Nintendo, Mario is back with a new and improved map screen, better music, and less of a pixelated look. Yoshi is finally in a good, recognizable game! Now Mario must battle through castles filled with lava, Dry Bones, and bosses. This work of art was beautiful.

Super Mario 64

The first 3D Mario game. Amazingly, jumping into paintings was a successful idea. From fighting chain-chomps to stomping Bowser, from from peaceful oceans to flaming pits that seem like Hell, this game had it all. The 3D might not be amazing now, but back then it was amazing.
