Sega All-stars Racing Two is Coming

Sega says the game will be out this holiday season.

According to Kotaku, Sega will be bringing out a sequel to “Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing” this holiday season.  There were toys related to the franchise that were displayed in a booth at the Toy Fair in New York this Sunday.  According to Sega, the sequel will feature characters and tracks that were not in the original.   Sega has not confirmed which consoles the game will be coming to, but there were early rumors of the game coming to the 3DS, PS Vita, and Wii U.  Do not be surprised however if the game finds its way onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.   This frachise is similar to the Mario Kart series, except it involves Sonic the hedgehog and other Sega characters racing against each other.  The game has been called a pretty solid kart racing game so a sequel seems well deserved.  Surprisingly, I’ve even seen some people claim it is better than the Mario Kart games.  What Sega characters could we see in this game?  Toe Jam and Earl?  Ristar? Dynamite Heady? Shenmue?  Space Channel 5?  Vectorman?  Comix Zone?  Alex Kidd?  Kid Chameleon? The amount of Sega franchises are endless, and Sega could take characters from any well known franchise and bring them to this kart racer.

I think bringing this game to the Wii U’s launch would be a smart idea.  There is a very good chance that there won’t be a Mario Kart at Wii U’s launch, so a Sonic/Sega kart racing game would be a good temporary replacement.  Especially if it ends up being better than the original.  Kart racing games have always been more fun to me than realistic racing games.  For example, I always enjoyed Crash Team Racing on the PlayStation 1.
