Black Video Game Characters
We need more of them.
After getting a black president, I was hoping it would send a signal to Japanese game developers that we need more main characters in video games who are black. Not just small minor characters, but main characters with major story arcs. I’m tired of blacks never getting any good roles in video games. Super Smash Bros Brawl proves how in majority of Nintendo’s video games, almost no characters are black except for Mr. Game And Watch. Some people tell me that Ganondorf looks black, but I don’t believe it.
The point is, we need black characters that are likeable. We need black characters in videog ames that can become popular and get a fan following. Look at Princess and the Frog. If they can make a princess black, then maybe Squaresoft can make the main character in one of their Final Fantasy games black. I’d love to see the main character in Final Fantasy be black. Not a side character, but a main character. Not someone you befriend in the game, but someone you actually play as.
Ever notice when there is a main black character in a video game, it is always negative like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Video games never shine a positive light on blacks. I feel Rockstar was racist for portraying blacks as a bunch of ghetto thugs who do drive bys and steal trucks. It is really insulting to black people everywhere.

as far as smash bros goes, they just mix in a bunch of old school video game peeps, so you cant be mad at nintendo for not changing mario and luigi into brothers haha
and what about halo? the sergeant, the only main character you see other than yourself, is black. and you never see the spartan out of outfit so who knows what color he is.
Besides, a lot of bigger games have big parts with a black person, or most games now give you the option to make your own character, so you can make a black guy/girl. (Rock band, guitar hero, tony hawk, etc.) so please, for all of us, stop whining and go with the flow.

I don’t know how he sounds like in Japanese, but in the English translation he’s a near replica of Mr. T, which is awesome. GEEZ!!! HOW CAN YOU FORGET BARRET!! HE’S THE BLACK GUY ON THE LEFT OF CLOUD WITH A MACHINE GUN FOR A HAND!!! ….I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT!! P.S. They should have Asians (I mean ALL Asians including the middle east) in advertisements more. It’s been…???… since I last saw one.
