Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Here it is. My point of view of brawl. If you are wanting to buy this game, you may want to read this article first.

Ready? 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Go!

With games like Street Fighter IV, Sould Caliber IV, or King of Fighters XII the game that was considered to be the most wanted and waited would have to be Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Fighting games with a lot of modes have always missed that one player that there is always someone wishing for, but in brawl, this choice is in perfect harmony, as there is very many ways to play.

Playing, either by “punching it” solo with the return of classic, event match and stadium mode will bring back a lot of memories of the older versions of this game. What will be raising some eyebrows from this game will be the new mode of  “The subspace Emissary adventure mode” able to be played by 1 or 2 players.

As the story goes Nintendo’s biggest mascots are undersieged by a troop of bio-mechanical opponents. You have to travel trough franchise themes, 2D levels with gorgeous scenes put together in an overall story.

It’s very much like “Yoshi Story” or any of the “Kirby” games, able to choose from different levels followed by a boss battle. Besides unlocking various secrets like stickers, trophies and hidden characters you can follow up the story and see how it all ends, with a never before seen ending.

Although the story can get quite interesting repetition sets in very quickly when playing this mode often.

One of the best things expected from this game would be the Wii Fi mode. You have the option of playing between friends or any other fellow “brawler” who is currently online. On the other side, playing on the Wii Fi mode can get very slow and “laggy”.

The new most commented thing about Brawl would have to be the special ability that is given to every character by the Smash Ball. When they appear on screen it literally becomes a brawl to smash them open and unlock some of the most amazing powers in the game. Much like the “Fatalities” in “Mortal Kombat” games you’ll be completely obsesed with seeing every final smash of every character.

SSBB is average, if you intend to play it by yourself. But in multy player mode, it nears perfection. Though the Subspace Emissary is a big disapointment, the fast pace fighting, bountyfull modes and costumization options and a deep set of hidden content, toss in online play, new characters and and a whole new look to match altering mechanics and you have all the ingredients for a smash game.

I rate this game:
