Terraria Monsters – Bosses 1#
The King Slime is the new Mini-Boss in version 1.0.4 The King Slime is a randomly appearing mini boss that can be found in caves and on the surface. It has 2000 HP when spawned.
When you damage it blue slimes will break off of the king slime and the King Slime itself progressively shrinks in size. It drops a random piece of the Ninja set upon death. The chance of a King Slime appearing in the place of any other slime is 1:300, and holding a Water Candle will improve the spawn chance of King Slime. The King slime is not lava immune, unlike the other main bosses, making the use of lava moats is very effective. Dynamite also works very well against king slime, see if you can trap him. King slime will take away 40 of your health without armor.
Eye of Cthulhu
“Have you seen Chith… Shith… Chat… The big eye?” ~ Merchant
The Eye of Cthulhu is a bigger version of the Demon Eye and is a boss enemy. While playing, the player may get the message, “You feel an evil presence watching you…”, which means that the Eye will awaken soon. After a few minutes the message “The Eye of Cthulhu has awoken!” will appear and the boss will promptly start to attack the player.
However, if “You feel an evil presence watching you…” appears and you aren’t ready to fight the Eye of Cthulhu, you can opt out of fighting it by simply exiting and restarting the world. To summon it, you will first need 10 Lenses and be standing near a Demon Altar to craft a Suspicious Looking Eye, which can later be consumed to instantly summon it. Eye of Cthulhu can randomly summon itself with a 33% chance each night if any player has at least 200 health, there are at least four town NPCs, and the Eye of Cthulhu has not yet been defeated.
If you attempt summon Eye of Cthulhu while another eye is already attacking you, you’ll get instantly killed, and only one eye will remain. It’s possible that it will spawn randomly during the night if you have or haven’t summoned it before.
This boss is thought to be the easiest boss by the game developers. An often used strategy and probably the best way to kill it is to buy a large number of shurikens from a Merchant, despite the fact that it takes a lot more time. Buying 110 of them should be enough to kill it. Also, If you have a Starfury, you can use the stars that it shoots to hit the Eye of Cthulhu with. This does 27 damage in the first phase and 36 damage on the second phase if you manage to get all stars to hit it.
The player will instantly be slain if they try to summon a second Eye of Cthulhu while one is already attacking him/her. However, when you ‘feel an evil presence watching you’ and you summon Cthulu, it may happen that a second one appears. While fighting the Eye of Cthulhu, do note that at 4 a.m, when day breaks, the battle will end and the Eye will run away, forcing you to summon it the next night. In single player, the player’s death marks the end of the boss battle. In multiplayer, if no one is alive for the boss to shift attention to, then the battle is over as well.
The Eye of Cthulhu can only be summoned during nighttime and will disappear without dropping any loot if the player does not kill it before daytime.
Although not required, it’s recommended to use a ranged weapon to kill it. Melee weapons damage it, but hitting the Eye of Cthulhu is very difficult, as it sometimes flies through walls and terrain. The Eye of Cthulhu has 3000 HP in both single player and multi-player.
