Tom Clancy’s Hawx

The latest game from the Tom Clancy series is definitely one to get excited about, with pinpint graphics and effects.

Many games have been released recently for within the Tom Clancy series, H.A.W.X. is the latest game from this series and it is one of the best in my opinion with its excellent take on all of the wars that have been and are still going on.

2015, this is the start of Artemis Global Security, the new private defence company which is hired by some of the most powerful force in the world, to defend themselves for the good of the others. In the game you are shown as Major Crenshaw an ex-navy pilot who’s squadron has just been disbanded by the government. You are set in the same world as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and Endwar.

This game recovers from the disappointment of what Endwar has been claimed as. There are 18 missions to get your teeth into allowing you to experience everything that the game can offer and also 3 different difficulty levels. The excitement of the game does not stop there either with the ability to increase your rank through experience you an get through doing certain objectives, becoming an expert with a certain weapon and destroying a certain amount of enemies. Through these ranks you can unlock new skins, new planes and new weapon packs. If you ever feel the need to hone your flying skills without the risk of being targeted by enemy missiles after completing a mission you can go on free flight on that map. Also you can replay the missions so you can do them on the more higher difficulty levels.

There is a large amount of different things that you do in these missions, such as protecting certain planes such as Air Force One, bombers and ground troops. Then there are full frontal pursuits where you have to use bombs to destroy terrorist fuel supplies. Many different views are also available, with the normal first and third person view but now you can turn the limiters off which puts you in an extreme third person view where you are put far away from the plane allowing you to see more nemies and making the plane faster and more agile, but does allow stalling with some planes being more susceptible you need to be skilled to pull this mode off sometimes.

You complete these missions with an extended arsenal of weapons, from Radar Guided Missiles to Free Fall Bombs and Joint Strike Missile and AAmulti missiles. This allows you to use your own strengths and preferences to get the job done. Additions to the technology on your plane make it easier for you to wipe out all of your enemies, there is ERS available, this shows you a path to follow which will either allow you to intercept an enemy plane to strike effectively (it may seem like its taking you the wrong way, but it does work), dodge a missile (I don’t think that this is needed as you can actually steer away to get rid of it), and then ground hit, this allows you to easily dike down planes and others which you can only hit from above.

There are 50 different licensed planes to choose from, with a large amount of customisability. Versus mode is also available, which allows you to battle against other people from around the world and also do a career with them, but sadly there is only PlayStation network and LAN play avaliable but not on one system.

The graphics are something that ubisoft can really be proud of with the landscape being created from satellite images. Overall, i must say hat this is one of the greatest Tom Clancy games that there has ever been out due to it’s intense gameplay and well thought out story line it will be a hit.
