What Version of Modern Warfare Two Should You Buy?
On the 10th November this year Infinity Ward and Activision are releasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
This game is being released in three different versions, regular, prestige and hardened. The regular version as the name suggests is just the game. For this the retail price of this is £55.99 but most places are selling it for £44.99. For this you get:
-
Game Disc
-
Game Manual
Just like any other game.
In the Hardened Edition which costs £64.99 you get:
-
Game Disc and Manual in a Tin with different artwork to the standard edition.
-
A Code to buy the Original Cal of Duty made by Infinity Ward off XBOX Live Marketplace or Playstation Network
-
An Artwork book about the game
Finally the Prestige Version is the limited edition which is properly limited, stores selling this are already almost sold out three months before release due to all the pre-orders and no more of these will be made than what are already made as each has there own unique code. It does come at a big price of £119.99 but for this you get:
-
Everything you get in the Hardened Edition
-
Fully Functioning Night Vision Goggles with Infinity Ward and Call of Duty logos.
The big question now is which one should I buy. This will mostly come down to money.
If you are a huge Call of Duty fan and want to be one of the few who have the special edition (having a good bit of spare money helps too) you probably want to buy the Prestige Edition but you will want to play the game lots and treasure those goggles ot get your money out of it.
The Hardened Edition seems like a really good package, it’s what I wanted to get at first but then I saw the price and changed my mind. Is this really worth it though the game is £45.99 so you’re paying £20 for a Call of Duty token when you can buy the actual game for a few quid pre-owned from Gamestation or Game, an art book which is just an art book and a tin but will it matter once you’re bored of th game or the next Modern Warfare or whatever it will be called comes out: simply NO.
That’s why I am going to get the standard edition. People are complaining that it is too much costing more than any other game on the marketplace but that shouldn’t really bother you if you’ve coped until now. If you don’t understand what that means I’ll explain. Remember changing to this generation of games consoles where the most you used to pay for a game, whether it was for the XBOX, PS2 or Gamecube the most you ever paid for a standard game was £29.99 and you rarely paid that much. So you were quite shocked when you had to pay up to £39.99 for a XBOX 360, PS3 or Wii. Now games have advanced more like they did then so the price has resultantly gone up. The gaming market is starting to compete with the DVD market due to games being so long in development and millions being spent on them so it is inevitable the price will go up.
So don’t jump when you see the price of the Standard Edition, it will be worth it; in my opinion Call of Duty 4 was worth that. If you’re that bothered wait a bit and wit will become cheaper, you can buy Halo 3 the ‘game of the decade’ for just £10 so it shows how cheap even the best of games become.
The prices are off HMV.com the exclusive UK seller of the Prestige edition as displayed on 12/08/2009.

I can’t help you decide which version to get, however I can’t to get a version myself
hardened edition will be on pc,ps3,x box???
