Activision, Halo, and Call of Duty Going Downhill
Thanks a lot Mr. Big Shot Game Companies.
Anyone else think this? I do, and I purely blame Activi$ion (Notice the $$$$, because they’re money whores to the extreme).
Recently, Activision has cut off support for Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and True Crime (A game in development since 2009). They’re laying off 500 people and introducing Beach head, a new company entirely owned by them to work on the Call of Duty series. That makes FIVE developers working on the next Call of Duty. Sledgehammer games, Infinity Ward, Raven Software, Beach head, and Treyarch. FIVE Companies working on a game that won’t make as much money as Black Ops. Not because Black Ops is a good game, no, it’s just the opposite. Black Ops ruined Call of Duty. It was supposed to be the light at the end of the very dark tunnel that was MW2, but it turns out that MW2 is like heaven compared to Black Ops. Black Ops is no fun, and was developed poorly. The only reason it sold so well was because it had the hype that it would be what we wanted MW2 to be. Now everyone has VERY low expectations for future CoD games and low expectations = less amounts of sales which = less $. Activi$ion has screwed themselves and personally, I think they deserve it.
Honestly, I see Reach being the end of Halo. Not as in the last game, but sort of the series killer. I thought it was a waste of $60 except for forge and custom games. Multiplayer is crap and with Bungie out, I don’t think that Halo will ever be as good as it was.
Basically, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH ALL OF THE GAMES WE LOVE? Oh yeah, the companies that make them became money sucking whores and started caring less about the community, and more of what’s in their wallet.
