Getting Revenge in Team Fortress 2
A simple guide on how to get revenge, dominate somebody, or just how to defeat any class in the online FPS game Team Fortress 2.
Often when playing Team Fortress 2 there’s always somebody who dominates me who I just cannot get to, either because they have been blessed by God to constantly have the protection of their allies, or because their skill is greater than yours. Even though it may take a few times, it should be simple enough.
My favorite way of playing the game is to pretend like most every class is a spy, except with a few of the classes as it is not practical to do so.
How to defeat a…
Soldier
The best way to defeat a soldier is to go spy and scratch their back. Pyro also works great on soldiers as long as you come from behind and avoid them facing you, they could probably kill you before they burn up. I haven’t tested it yet, but the scout’s Force-A-Nature could be useful because of the knockback; most soldiers would have trouble aiming at the speedy scout while being pushed around. I love soldier vs soldier battles… Especially on low gravity servers. A headshot is fine, too.
Scout
Heavies and their weapon Natasha are the best way to defeat scouts. If you can catch a scout in a nice small room or hallway corner as a pyro or soldier then you should have no problem eliminating the threat.
Pyro
Don’t get close to a pyro! Heavies are decent for taking out pyros, but be wary, the good pyros like to hide and surprise attack. If you’re a pyro I suggest having your shottie out when fighting an enemy pyro, run backwards and blast them, if they get too close then switch out to your flamethrower or your axe and finish the pyro off. Flareguns are useless against pyros, that weapon is only really good versus heavies, demomen, spys, and snipers that you have a clear shot at.
Demomen
Defensive demomen usually move around a lot, they hardly ever leave the area where they’re within firing range of their camping sites. They’re usually easy enough to backstab unless they’re near their team mates. As for the offensive ones, if you have a clear shot, shoot! I perfer being a demoman when taking out other demomen.
If you’re playing a demoman, you can trick others into thinking you’re in one area by placing stickies somewhere, then run off to another area (possibly behind them, or off to heal).
Heavy
These slow moving giants are just asking for a knife to the back and a sniper’s bullet in between the eyes. If you’re a pyro always come from the behind and run around him. If you’re a scout toss a baseball at the beast to stun him then finish him off.
Engie
I usually can’t stand engies, they’re always hiding behind a sentry. The most obvious choice is the spy. If they’re sitting behind the sentry, with his sentry facing away from him and he is just right there upgrading or repairing it, then switch to your sapper, then your knife. Jump behind or on top of the engie, hover one finger above the q button (last weapon button), stab, and as fast as possible, hit q to switch weapons and sap that sentry before it kills you! Make sure to take out the teleporter.
Other strategies for the spy could be to sap the entrance, or some other build that is far away from where the engie currently is, sure enough he will run off to it and rebuild. After that all you have to decide is if you wish to intercept them or take out their sentry. Some engies may stay at their sentry regardless.
As a pyro you could take out a single sentry if you were to run around it in circles. The sentry would attempt to chase you in a circle, and may land some damage on you, but if you are fast enough and have enough room you can take the sentry out (level 2 and 3 sentries may require a healing buff from your friendly medic).
As a demoman, make sure to plant stickies around the area enemies are likely to come from, as you should always do as a demoman. The engie will probably try to run out and blast you with his shottie if you fire nades and stickes at his sentry, so keep a trap out.
The scout’s Bonk energy drink is good if only for a distraction for sentries. Ask some team mates to tag along and wait till you’ve got the sentry’s attention, and let them do the dirty work!
Medic
Always. Kill. Medics. FIRST. Medics tend to stand still a LOT when healing a heavy, I’ve backstabbed quite a few of them… but if you’re like me when playing medic then you usually running around watching out for spies and other threats. If you’re playing medic then heal people…. play battle medic either when somebody you’re healing dies, or a spy comes up behind your heavy. Do NOT let the person sneaking up behind your friend kill them. =[
Soldiers are decent for taking out medics.
Sniper
Nothing better for taking out a sniper than another sniper… and their backs are so backstabbable. Pyros can be good if you’re one of those extra sneaky sort of pyros. Scouts are usually fast enough to dodge their bullets or to get there descretely.
Spy
If you see a friendly medic that has no ubercharge, he is a spy. If you see a slowmoving scout, he is a spy. If you see a team mate running after somebody else’s back, he is probably a spy. If you see any teammate running back to the base with full HP, more likely or not he is a spy. Fire a few rounds at friendly units, unless friendly fire is on, this is a good idea. Just try not to devote all your attention to somebody who is probably not a spy, I can’t tell you how many times I was sitting there when a team mate ran up to me, shot off enough rounds at me to kill three heavies, and a spy came up behind them and raped their back (court ordered).
There is always a spy behind you, in front of you, to your side, and even in your home making love to your wife (or husband?)
Pyros are made for taking out spies… I got votebanned from my clan’s server by some moron spy who was complaining that I, a pyro, was dominating him by sitting there protecting an engie’s builds… he blindly uncloaked in front of me and ran directly into my flames.
Anyway, if you’re at a distance, blast them with your shottie or use your flare gun.
Heavies aren’t ideal for spychecking, but natasha can help sort them out – disguised spys slow down to natasha’s fire.
Soldier’s and demomen’s weapons fire explode on contact with any enemy, disguised or not.
Backstab your team mates! It’s awesome to backstab a spy. As a spy, your gun is powerful, and is useful for taking out enemy spies. Run behind a large rock or something, cloak, run somewhere and hide for a second (but not in the open where they expect you!), wait for the right moment, and strike! Shoot and hide is a good strategy, too.
Spycrab
This is the most difficult class to take out, even as a spycrab yourself. I suggest finding a new server if ever confronted with this… spycrabs are endagered, anyway. Why would you want to kill one of them?
