An Insight to Professional Gaming – How much do they earn?
The career of gaming is a not commonly favored profession. But what do statistics have to say about it?
Idolized by teenagers, stared down upon by the elderly and experienced, professional gamers have been making a breakthrough.
Professional gamers represent a lot about what we think about life today. They are what is described as being extremely addicted to technology, yet they demonstrate people going to the extremes to pursue their passions. Rising multiplayer games, particularly League of Legends, are making their name around our society today and many people, including adults, are eager and urgent to find out more.
Let us look at George “HotShotGG” Georgallidis, one of the most known players from the Riot Games hit real-time strategy computer program.
Georgallidis was passionate about games. He quit his local hands-on job at a store to play League of Legends, claiming that it was “interfering with his gaming”.
Professional gamers earn money from sponsors and advertisements, as well as streaming gameplay and tournaments. Contrary to popular belief, a living can be made out solely from these sources.
After winning many major tournaments, a website was set up, with sponsors approaching, generating some revenue. George continued to win tournaments, including in the World Championships, where many tens of thousands watched his team compete against other players around the globe. After a year and a half of fame, Georgallidis announced in an ‘Ask Me Anything’ forum topic, when asked, “How much do you earn?”stated:
“I’m not going to reveal exact figures, but it’s more than enough to live a comfortable lifestyle.”
Our societies and communities are changing. Anyone nowadays knows in their heart that they want to follow their passion, and nine times out of ten, when they find and harness their talent, they achieve.
