Buying the Right Farm Town Buildings: The Easy Way to Level Up Fast
In Farm Town, it’s hard to figure out what you should buy, how you should maximize your money, and – above all – how to ensure that your farm’s production method helps you reach the next level quickly. Learn how many experience points each building gives and how to transform your earnings into higher levels.
So you just sold a crop. What should you do with the money? Invest in more expensive crops, buy a dog, decorate with trees, or build a windmill?
If your goal is to level up quickly, then there’s an easy answer. Follow these steps because they will maximize both your time and coins, helping you level up as quickly as possible, with as little work as possible.
Every time you complete a crop cycle (planting, harvesting, and plowing),
1. Plant all of your fields with 1-day, 4-hour, or 2-hour crops. I recommend cabbages because:
- They’re less time-intensive than raspberries and grapes. When you have a big farm (or a job/family/life), it’s just not feasible to plant four to six crops a day.
- They give you two or three times as many experience points as two- or three-day crops; you gain experience from plowing & planting, and you obviously plant 1-day crops twice as often as 2-day crops.
- They are the most profitable 1-day crop.
2. Once your farm is fully planted, invest all of your remaining money in buying buildings.
- Tip: You can sell the buildings that you bought last time, and then place the new buildings in the same spot. This way, you can continue earning points through buying buildings, but you don’t have to take a lot of space away from your crops.
The next part of the crop cycle is harvesting, which will replenish your virtual wallet. Since you can’t spend any more money on crops, invest it in experience.
Everything you buy in Farm Town gives you experience points. The question is, what gives you the most bang for your buck?
For most buildings, you get approximately 1 experience point per 100 coins spent. For example, a Small House costs 70,000 coins and gives 701 experience points (EP). Some buildings, however, are a rip-off. Buyer beware!
Good Choices
- Fruit Stand (1,000 coins; 13 EP)
- Tent (1,000 coins; 13 EP)
- Wind Pump (10,000 coins; 103 EP)
- Wind Generator (25,000 coins; 253 EP)
- Silo (30,000 coins; 302 EP)
- Playground (30,000 coins; 302 EP)
- Wood Shed (30,000 coins; 302 EP
- Windmill (40,000 coins; 402 EP)
- Gazebo (50,000 coins; 502 EP)
- Water Tank (50,000 coins; 502 EP)
- Barn (60,000 coins; 601 EP)
- Small House (70,000 coins; 701 EP)
- Greenhouse (80,000 coins; 800 EP)
- Water Mill (100,000 coins; 1,000 EP)
Best Choices
- Fruit Stand (1,000 coins; 13 EP)
- Tent (1,000 coins; 13 EP)
These two buildings provide the highest EP-to-coins ratio. If you buy one hundred Tents (for a total cost of 100,000 coins), you will earn 1,300 experience points. If you buy ten Wind Pumps (for the same total cost of 100,000 coins), you’ll earn 1,030 experience points; if you buy one Water Mill (for the same total cost of 100,000 coins), you will earn only 1,000 experience points.
Bad Choices
- Farm House (300,000 coins; 1,000 EP)
- Mansion (1,000,000 coins; 1,000 EP)
You could buy three Water Mills for the same price as one Farm House, but you would get three times as much experience. One Mansion costs 10 times as much money as a Water Mill but gives only the same number of experience points. Unless you just want to decorate your farm, don’t purchase these buildings. (Of course, by the time you can buy a mansion – Level 33 – you probably don’t care about leveling up anymore!)

The absolute best item to buy for coin/exp ratio is… ….
… don don daaaaaaaa!!! Hay!!thats right for 1000 coins you get 100 exp points!!
the water tank costs 50,000, not 5000
dirt paths are also good, especially if you don’t want to take the time to sell each thing you build. You can put dirt paths in the same spot over and over without selling or deleting. For 200c you get +5xp. So you get 25xp per 1000c, and its much faster than the tent or fruit stand.
Hay bales – but you need patience to clear them off later. at only 50c you get +5XP PLUS you can just click away without having to go back to the store. if you’re selling them back then it’s at 2c each
i was wondering how you get the cow milk to make butter ?
