Captain America The First Avenger

Captain America The First Avenger; Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Stanley Tucci, Hugo Weaving; 1940’s America/Modern America; Action/Adventure.

Steve Rogers has the characteristics of an ideal soldier, except for one trait, his physique. He badly wants to help his Country by becoming a Soldier but is always rejected due to his size. When he finally gets the chance to be a Soldier, he accepts it. Unknowingly Steve’s choice would make him a Super Soldier ready to fight for his Country. Steve Rogers is a puny man who behaves as if he’s a big guy. He wants to be a Soldier but his physique serves as a barrier for him to become one. But when Dr. Abraham Erskine sees Steve’s potential, he helps Steve to become a Soldier, not just a Soldier but something more. When Steve is recruited as a Soldier, he soon finds out Dr. Erskine’s plan for him. When he learns of Dr. Erskine’s plan he volunteers for the Super Soldier program. Steve also learns about Johann Schmidt aka Red Skull and is soon on a mission to stop Red Skull’s evil plan.

Joe Johnston’s direction is awesome. There’s nothing I didn’t like about the film. Everything fits so well. I loved the film as an origin of Captain America. It is a complete origin film with the tiniest detail falling into place. I specifically loved the transformation of Steve Rogers from a puny fellow to a hulking guy. That, for me is a true geek’s fantasy. (I surely would like to undergo the same transformation as Steve did!)

Chris Evans is perfect casting for Captain America. He is Steve Rogers and Captain America at the same time. You will feel for him during the different stages of the development of his character. Hugo Weaving is evil incarnate. You could believe that he is Hitler’s tight competition in evilness. From beginning to end you would not catch a glimpse of kindness from his Red Skull.

The film as a whole is a film worth watching. It’s rare for a Superhero movie to be this great. This is not a wate-your-money kind of movie. Everyone should see Captain America The First Avenger.
