Devil May Cry Four: Demon Slaying Guide

Having a hard time beating those demons? Want to know why you can’t hit them? Read this!

Scarecrow(Arm): These guys are the first enemies you encounter in DMC4. They can be 1 hit with a buster. Note that it attacks with less warning than the next kind, making it harder to defend against.

Scarecrow(Leg): A somewhat harder version of scarecrows, they can twirl around and hit you. 2 hits with a buster will KO them.

Mega Scarecrow: A big version of the scarecrow. Despite their size, they still can be devil bringered. Watch out for AFTER you kill them, a blade will fall down from the sky a few seconds later, possibly ending your combo.

Frost: Icy. Not hard to kill, but sometimes does NOT get stunned from a sword atttack. Watch out for when their shield glows, that’s when they attack. When they encase themselves in ice, break it or else they’ll regain half their HP. They also have a close range claw uppercut.

Assault: Somewhat a non-icy version of the frost. Still uses projectiles and a claw attack like the frost, with a jump-crash attack and a air cannonball attack.

Blitz: These guys are electrical and prefer a hit-and-run technique. Stay in the air when fighting these, they’ll teleport up to you and use their claw. Don’t hit em with sword attacks when they have electric surrounding them! When they stop sprinting around, jump up and use a few gun attacks on them. It’ll wear down their power faster. When they run out, quickly run up and use your best combos on them. They’ll start glowing red after a while, so stop attacking them and run away. They’ll go back to hit-and-run, but after a while they’ll suicide themselves with an explosion. (keep away from the explosion!)

Gladius: Sword-bird. Won’t hit you much and its only attack is to charge at you. If you buster one of these, you can throw it at an enemy to do damage. If not tossed at an enemy, the buster doesn’t do damage.

Cutlass: I’d say these are the hardest of all demons. You have to avoid their attacks while gunning their fins to bring em out from the floor. They’re annoying, but with Pandora you will OWN them. Just gun them to the surface and use a few busters.

Basilisk: Hot dogs! Anyways, these use projectiles (fireballs) but that’s about it. They are fairly defensive and can dodge most busters and/or stingers. Pandora semi-fails against these.

Chimera seed: Basically weak when alone, but can rush you with a sting. Can attach themselves to other enemies to make em stronger.

Chimera: Chimera seed on a monster. The dangerous part of this is that it makes the monster stronger, faster, and has a new whip-around-the-body tentacle attack. The tentacle will hit you regardless whether or not the host is stunned. Beware!

Mephisto: Ghosts. Their most common attack is the “long-finger-of-doom” where they circle around you with a screech and sting you. Jump to avoid it. If you hit their finger (I swear, it’s the middle finger) then you’ll make em back up and deal a bit of damage. They also have a claw under their cloak which can whip around and catch you off guard. Rarest of their attacks is a rush which is dodged by jumping to a side. (just jumping won’t help) To remove their cloak, use gunfire or the devil bringer. They’ll fall to the ground in a scorpionish form where you can buster them.

Faust: Harder version of the Mephisto, same things apply. They have a claw swipe which can be easily avoided by changing altitude. They can also rush you, so watch out!

Bianco Angelo: Demon knights. Their main attack is to rush you, which is easily avoided. If you get up close, they’ll shield bash you. If you hit their shield too much (usually 3 normal sword hits) and it gives an “invincible block”, immediately jump because they’ll shield bash you and then lance. 2 hit with a buster (It’s the coolest of the busters because it can hit lots of enemies behind the angelo. Split (Helm Breaker for Dante) is one of the best ways to kill these guys.

Alto Angelo: Harder version. This one has a sword for close range combat and you cannot buster him (even in the back) until you destroy his shield. It can also respawn its shield. You can still hit it in the back with regular sword attacks to damage it.

Fault: Big heads that come up from the ground and pull you down where you have to fight a few monsters and makes you restart the room. Becomes a big pain to dodge. Can be killed for 2 green orbs. Also removes it from attacking you in that area.
