Dream: A Free-roaming Rpg
Dream is a game in the N.E.O – X Project series, which is still under production by Grove X Games. This series is being written in JavaScript with the Sphere Editor. It is the first game to be released in the series, but is only the third in the story. The first two games will be released later on (for reasons that will become obvious when they are released).
Dream is a part of the ‘NEO-X Project’ RPG series that is under production by Grove X Games. The game is being written in JavaScript using the Sphere engine. This game will be the third in the series, coming after ‘The Darkness Within’ (the first game) and ‘The N.E.O-X Project’ (the second game), and is set ten years after the Main Character from the first two games joins the survivors of the earth’s ruin in his first (major) creation: the ‘DREAM network’. The idea behind this network was to keep the survivors occupied with this virtual world until the Main Character can find a way to repair the destroyed surface of the earth. In the beginning of the N.E.O-X Project, the Main Character wrote up designs for new, more powerful technology, one of these technologies was a new bomb. Many times more powerful than all of the earth’s nuclear resources together, this bomb would be able to destroy the Enemy completely. However, the designs for this bomb are lost when the Main Character flees his hideout in the ruins of New York. The Government takes back the city and a low-ranking official finds the notebook that the Main Character leaves behind. The bomb is built by the Department of Defense and the Main Character recognizes the shape and speed of his design when it is launched at the Enemy. The bomb blows a hole in the Western United states, killing millions of people and most of the Enemy. The shock wave and the nuclear reactions after the blast killed almost all life on the surface of the planet. After building his underground base, the Main Character builds the ‘DREAM network’ and then goes in search of survivors…
DREAM covers the time the Main Character spent in his virtual world after he gathered up as many survivors as he could. Unlike the other games, the player will have all most complete control over what the Main character does in the story. The player will be able to choose what to say to NPCs and where they go. Some areas, however, will need to be unlocked before the player can enter them. The Second release will feature a turn-based battle system, but in time an real-time battle system may be provided via update.
The release will be in May of 2012, featuring two areas, one player character, and a small set of items. Some NPCs will be available for the player to interact with. Mouse support will be one of the main control systems for the game, aside from the arrow keys. The game will be released towards the end of May.
The first update will be in June and will feature a Turn-Based battle System, more Items and extended Events (that may trigger at any time in the game). Also, this release will include updated (somewhat better) map graphics. Additionally, there will be the beginning of the story and small quests that can be completed.
