Farmville
A short description of the popular Facebook game.
Farmville is an online farming game that allows users to create their own farms, grow crops, buy livestock, plant trees and build buildings. Users find it addicting because of its easy to use interface, simple controls and crop system. If users don’t return to their farms often enough, their crops will wither and die off, leaving the farmer with no money. The game is in beta build, so that new features can be easily added to the game, which keeps people checking back for new features and items. The game is easy to understand, and anyone can play. Users are encouraged to invite users to earn ribbons, which are in game achievements that reward the user with cash and experience, allowing him to level up faster. Ribbons keep people playing, because they want to collect every ribbon, a lot of which are very time consuming. All of the profits made off of the game are donated to charity, according to the game’s developer, Zynga. There are many articles that go over cheats, hints and easy ways to make coins in the game. Despite it’s simplicity, the game is surprisingly deep, and actually requires a lot of playing time to fully understand it. Even after playing it for a week, I don’t feel like I know everything about it. This game is a new genre in and of itself, and the amount of users it has only goes to show how popular it really is.
