Forza Motorsport Three Review

The Best Racing Game Of Modern Times, Briefly Explored.

Okay, so the summary of the article isn’t entirely accurate. What I mean to say is that it’s the greatest racing simulator of all time… until Gran Turismo 5 is released in November, however, it is still a superb effort and a huge improvement over it’s predecessor, Forza Motorsport 2.

In terms of graphics, Forza 3 is superb. It looks incredibly realistic, all of the cars are polished to perfection, until, of course, you inevitably crash them, which is where it seems a slight let down for me. The crash physics are good, but lack a sense of spectacularity somehow, as there are no epic four billion car pile ups, they just bounce boringly, which doesn’t seem too realistic, Then again, I am not one for realism in racing games, so I may well be well off the mark here.

In terms of driving, Forza is great too. The handling is realistic enough and you feel every bump in the road through the perfect vibration of the XBOX 360 controller, but again it somehow lacks that ‘wow’ factor that the Gran Turismo team always manage to pull off in their games.

Forza 3 sports many other features such as 2-player split screen, car auctions, a store for buying and selling graphics and car set-ups, free play and much more, all of which is functional, but still seems to have been done before.

Due to all of this, Forza is a great game, however come the release of Gran Turismo 5, it will likely be dead in the water until the release of Forza Motorsport 4, which even then may be unable to match Polyphony Digital’s expertise in the field of racing simulation games.
