Game Making Thoughts

Game making is a wonderful thing to do. It’s fun, relatively easy, and overall you can share your creations.

Skills

Game making requires some skills. These skills include but not limited to: Drawing (either on a computer or pencil and pen.), story design (what is the point of the game, what will happen), and Coding. You must be skilled at at least one of those skills. If you can bring something to the table, you can find people who are skilled at different skills to help you accomplish your game(idea).

First Game

When I first starting to make a game, I had little to no knowledge of coding or story design or drawing. I decided that I needed to step it up. I completely stopped working on my game, looked up tutorials on how to draw pixel by pixel, found tutorials, that other game makers made, and I learned to code. After I learned some of the basics I started to put it to use. I have,t really thought about what I was going to do with my game, but I figure it wouldn’t be too hard. Well, I was wrong there. I had no idea what I was doing, or even if I accomplished anything towards my game. It wasn’t until a few days earlier that i found this blog. It helped be to break my “bad” habits. And how to create a list to help me make my game. It was a long and treacherous road, but I completed by first game.

After Thoughts

After I completed my game, I was very proud. But there was still a problem that I had to deal with. I had to find out how to get my game out to the public, for commercial or non-commercial. The program I used only exported it as .exe. .exe can not be played as a browser game, which now-a-days most game hosting sites are made of. i thought about going to some sites with my game as .exe, but I thought to myself, this is not a big game. It was at least 15min of game-play, so who would want to take that? But luckily I had a friend, who could export my game to browser-based, which it has bugs, but at least it’s playable. Blotch Attack is the name, and I am proud to be the creator,well it was my first game.
