Game Review: Katamari Forever

Just one game in my series of game reviews.

  Information:

Katamari Forever, for Playstation 3, is the 5th and newest game in the Katamari series. The game is titled “Katamari Damacy Tribute” in Japan because it features a few similar levels and a remixed soundtrack from the previous game.

Story:

The King has lost his memory. Oh No! While the King of the Cosmos was asleep, all the cousins made a RoboKing. Unfortunately Robo King destroyed all of the stars. Now it is the Prince’s job, alongside his cousins, to rebuild the cosmos and restore the King’s memory.

Levels:

Katamari Forever has 34 levels between two cosmos. You can play the King’s Cosmos and Robo King’s Cosmos. While playing the King’s cosmos you have to bring the King’s memory back. The levels will be in black and white at first, and gain color as your Katamari grows.  The Robo King’s cosmos start in full color but have a different style of gameplay than you are used to. Youre not always rolling things up. In one level you have to fill your Katamari with water and water the grass and plants.

Controls:

The controls in Katamari Forever are the same controls used in Katamari Damacy. The main difference is the “Prince Hop”. The Prince Hop allows the prince AND the katamari to jump. You can either flick your Sixaxxis controller or press R2. This makes it so much easier to explore the areas in the level.

My view:

I love this game. It’s pretty addicting. I love Katamari Damacy too. I’m pretty sure if you like any of the previous Katamari Games, you’ll love this game. If this is the first Katamari game you’ve played, you might think “what the hell?!!!”. The story lines are ridiculous, the cut scenes don’t make sense, and the King and Robo King are always angry with you. I enjoy their “abuse”. It’s pretty funny if you play the whole game through. I think you’ll get a few good laughs, and it’s also tons of fun.
