Games Like RuneScape
For years I have been searching for game(s) that are similar in context with Runescape, meaning you don’t have to download the game and that it is 3d and not a text-based browser game. The only problem was that wherever I would look I would see people suggesting games that would take hours to download and/or games where you just type in stuff and don’t see any graphics. For the last years I have been compiling some games that are relatively similar to Runescape in that respect. ALL of the following games do not require download and are free as well as multiplayer(you can see other players). Enjoy!
1. Earth Eternal (at the moment not online)
This game is relatively new and is now in open beta so go ahead and start playing. I can tell you that this game is very good. You pick from 22 races and pick a class(knight, mage, rogue, druid) and you explore the world which was inspired by European mythology. This game has extremely good graphics and can be played in browser (as well as downloaded depending on your preference). All you have to do is install the player which took me about 3 minutes. Then just start playing! It also has some awesome features like Groves (where you customize your own land) and the best thing is that its totally free! During the last few weeks the website was offline but will come back on soon enough and may already be up depending on when you read the article.
2. Pirate Galaxy
A sci-fi shooter, the game focuses on a future time where “Mantis” forces have taken over entire planets to mine cryonite, a valuable substance. You fight them while gaining cryonite yourself to gain stronger weapons/ships. The game itself can be played in a browser or downloaded. Unlike most games of this style, the game doesn’t lag in a browser and has fantastic graphics. I was surprised how well it ran. The game uses real-time fighting both in space and on the ground! Everyone has to try this out!
3. Adventure Quest Worlds
For those that already know about Artix Entertainment and Adventure Quest, Adventure Quest Worlds is a relatively new Artix game which is multiplayer and played in the browser. The focuses on different quests and a story which are all about Choas. In the story the player chooses whether he is good or evil and starts fighting against the forces of choas. With regular updates every Friday and the ability to change between various classes this game is definately fun and growing.
If you are interested in more games from Artix Entertainment I reccommend Adventure Quest, Mechquest, as well as Dragon fable. I will not mention them here becuase they are not multiplayer.
4. Sherwood Dungeon
Sherwood dungeon, a free 3-d MMORPG played in your browser boasts a variety of special features. The graphics are pretty nice as well as the combat structure and all the different monsters to fight. It is a bit laggy sometimes but everyone should still check it out!
A game from Gaia Online, Zomg focuses on the Animated, a group of objects that come to life and start attacking humanity. Your character uses differerent “rings” to combat these Animated. The game uses anime like graphics and is actually very fun. I recommend this game to everyone!
A pretty fun game where you get to be a variety of animals/fauna and explore the large world. Anyway, this game is online and needs no download so everyone can try this really quickly.
An interesting multilplayer browser game on miniclip that explores a world found in the sky. With tons of mini-games and great social interaction the game is definitely worth your time.
8. Club Penguin
Club Penguin is a fun game where you are a penguin and you explore the world as well as partake in multiple minigames, etc. I put this as number 5 since this is also arguably used for social reasons (like talking) and not really for gaming like Runescape
-Neopets (Neopets park)
Basically these are the games that are usually played instead of Runescape. I picked the following games becuase of their compatibility. I didn’t want to recommend a game where you would download it for 6 hours and then realize it lags and its not even that good. These games are all playable from the browser and you can just quickly try them. If you don’t like them just go on to another game. It is as simple as that.
Note: I recently update this list to include more games, the first draft had about 5 games and now i added 3 or so. So check back everyone once in a while to see new games. And as a side note if you know of any other games that aren’t mentioned here i really suggest you write a comment with the game and i will add it to the list of games.
Thanks for reading and please leave a comment and rate!
