Great Games for Slower Computers and Netbooks
If you constantly struggle with low frame rates on your Laptop or Netbook this is the guide for you.
The world of PC (personal computer) gaming changes monthly. Every day new and interesting games come out. Unfortunately many of these video games are not optimized for PCs. They were originally meant for dedicated gaming consoles and then were shoddily ported to windows computers. This means that unless you have a very fast computer you can’t play most new games. This guide will introduce some new games that are easy on your system (even low-end netbooks) and are fun to play.
The first game that should run great on any computer is called Terraria. It is a two-dimensional survival game. Your objective is to mine and gather resources in order to craft items and build a house. While this is happening you have to fend off the monsters who want to kill you and make you start over. It is a faster alternative to the highly successful Minecraft created by Swedish developer Mojang.
If Terraria isn’t your style you can always check and see if Humble Bundle has an assortment out. Humble Bundles are groups of Indie games from multiple developers. They are called humble bundles because you can name your own price and pay as much or as little as you want. If you pay above a certain amount you can earn incentives. Also part of your payment goes to charities such as Child’s Play and the EFF. There are always great handpicked games in each of their bundles. It’s also a great way to support smaller developers and give money to good causes.
If neither of those two options look good to you I suggest looking at the Steam Store. The Steam Store is run by famous game developer Valve. It is host to hundreds of great games from many different publishers. You can find many classics such as Half Life and Counterstrike to spend your time on. Many of their older games are under ten dollars and are a great deal. There are games for everyone in their store’s library.
