How to Tell If Someone is a Noob
Do you think are you what they call a "noob"?
Note: “Noob” has two meanings, an idiot or a newbie.
Username
Let’s determine how someone is a noob by looking at their username. Let’s look at this username example, – XXSNIP3ZXX479203 – There are two ways that show that this username is noob-ish.
- The username has “X”s in it, so we can tell the person thinks it’s cool, when it is not.
- There are several digits at the end of the username. This shows us that this person is unwilling to be unoriginal and come up with a username that has not already been taken up.
These two qualities both make the username unmemorable, and can lead people to thinking that the person with the username is a noob. Let’s also look at this username here – NinjaBread – this username does not have any digits in the username and it’s simple, so the name is more memorable to those who come across this person.
Speech
Let’s see how a person is speaking online, for example, “i’m wundrin if u wuld liek jon a pt with me” instead of “I’m wondering if you would like to join a party with me”. There is a big difference between the two and you could probably figure out which example is noob-ish.
- Spelling errors can hint that the person is a noob, unless they correct it (I would also like to add that abbreviations such as “lol” are ok).
- Not beginning sentences with capital letters can also make a person look noob-ish.
Appearance
Appearance of the person’s avatar can indicate if the person is a noob. If a person has a poor choice in clothing (inappropriate/poor colour scheme, etc) then they are likely to be a noob.
Game play
Obviously, if the person is not good at the game and is new to the game, the person is in one definition of the word, a noob. However, if the person has been on the game for a while and is still not good at it, then the person is a noob.
