Medieval Two Total War – Guide

A basic guide to how to play, battle strategies and non-battling area.

How to Play

Medieval 2 (or M2) is a simple game to play, but it may be hard to win. In battle, you can learn to play using the tutorials. Outside battling, you may find it difficult. Buildings are simple. To build troops, enter the main frame of the town by double clicking on one of your settlements and clicking “recruitment”. Click on the troops that are not grey in colour and you will put the troops in your building queue. Then wait a turn and you will have your troops. To build buildings, double click on your settlement and click on “construction” and click on the building you want to add it to the building queue. Then wait a turn or a few and you will have your building.

Battle Strategies

When in a battle, you are always looking for a way to break your opponents morale and defeat their troops. To defeat their troops, try using the combat triangle. Spear men beat cavalry, cavalry beat archers and light  and heavy infantry and heavy infantry and archers beat spear men. This strategy works very well. To break morale, engage their troops with some troops and charge from the side or the back to flank the opponent. This causes them to run. To catch routing troops, use light cavalry.

Non – Battling Area

In the non – battling area, try to conquer rebel settlements and set trade rights with other factions, not alliances. Also try to call crusades to settlements near your own.
