Mobile Gamer: 9: The Mobile Game
Seek out the answers behind the mystery of the stitchpunks in 9: The Mobile Game!
Based on the highly anticipated animated release 9, “9 The Mobile game stands to be a perfect compliment for fans of the film. The game itself is a counterpart to the storyline of the movie. You lead the main character 9, as well as 2, and others friends known as known as stitchpunks as you meet them. Together you navigate through various hazardous environments and while facing off against foes and machines that are out to get you. While each stage has a specific purpose, the main character 9, like most of us ultimately wishes to know the meaning of life.
The game is an impressive release by publisher Skyzone Entertainment. The play of this action adventure game play is best played on a touch screen device or a phone with a QWERTY keyboard. There is a six-direction navigation and a single button attack button to battle enemy machines created by The B.R.A.I.N., (Binary Reactive Artificially Intelligent Neurocircuit).
Though it looks a little challenging at first the game has a short learning curve. Players will find soon themselves doing battle with opponents like the Cat Beast taken straight from the film. The impresive grapics have the same apolcolyptic feel with the same earth tone colors, casted shadows, eerie illuminated objects and vibrant neon green emphasis straight from the movie. Your mechanic boss opponents which appear at the end of each stage are equally artistic. The Cat beast for example appears a part machine with a cat skeleton, light bulbs eyes and long, razor sharp claws. It even moves with the same structured yet feral motion you will expect from such a monstrous construction.
The accompanying music for the game is absolutely the best I have heard from any game released this year. It is hauntingly appropriate and yet still has a tint of excitement and hope to it. It can become distracting after long periods of play however, as I have not encountered it changing in my time in playing. Surprisingly enough, the boss characters do not have their own theme music. There could be opportunity for improvement here, if nowhere else in the game. A suggestion to the developers could be a free ring tone download of the music from the movie’s or games score upon purchase of the game.
One of the game’s best selling points is the tandem play that has the player use two players at a time during the same stage. This requires the player to carefully solve puzzles of in order to move forward and successfully complete the board. This is a multiplayer feature rarely seen on mobile gaming devices and it really sets this product apart from other action adventure games on the market.
This game is competitively priced through most carriers. Through Verizon Wireless, for example, the game is $2.99 for a monthly subscription, and $6.99 for unlimited play making is a buyer’s bargain. I rate this game a worthy 4 and a half out of 5 joysticks. Seek out the answers behind the mystery of the stitchpunks in 9: The Mobile Game!
