Monster Hunter Three and the Conduit: Two Extremely Important Games for the Nintendo Wii
The future of the Wii could rest on The Conduit and Monster Hunter three.
While Nintendo has made a massively popular console in the Wii, Nintendo’s image in the eyes of many hardcore gamers, isn’t really that diffrent than it was in the Gamecube era. It changed from looking at Nintendo has being kiddy to looking at it has being for the casuals, but they still look at Nintendo has being NOT for the hardcore, alienating a large audience from them.
Two games that are to be released in 2009 can put Nintendo on the road to changing that image. The games I’m referring to, of course, are the much talked about The Conduit and Monster Hunter 3. The Conduit is an FPS being developed by High Voltage, and the developers are trying very hard to make the graphics something that X-Box and Playstation users won’t look at has being absolute crap. They certainly are succeeding.
First Person Shooters are probably the most popular genre in gaming right now. If High Voltage can create a hit game with The Conduit they may be able to bring the attention of other companies looking to develop FPS to the Wii. With more FPS on the Wii, hardcore gamers may look at the Wii as being a more serious console and consider picking it up.
Monster Hunter 3 is a game that’s not much heard of outside of Japan. In Japan however, it’s a massively popular franchise. The thing is, Monster Hunter games used to be exclusive to the Sony consoles, and by bringing it to the Wii as an exclusive, Capcom is also bringing a huge Japanese audience to the Wii, and a niche, but hardcore, audience in America to the Wii.
While Monster Hunter 3 and The Conduit have not yet been released on the Wii, and could turn out to be absolute crap, previews and videos are saying otherwise. Not only could these two games bring an important audience to Nintendo, but also instill a little faith in those of us who put our money into the Wii.
