My Top 10 All Time Favourite Computer Games
With so many games around, I’ve picked my top 10 favourite games that have created my childhood and continue as such that I even play them now, of course with some new additions. I hope you share similar views as to the games in this list.
In a generation of Xboxes, PlayStations, Nintendo DSes, Wiis and what not, I’m sure quite a lot of the population would agree that the best gaming device till now is the classic, good old computer. I’ve compiled my favourite childhood games and some games that are so insanely addictive to me, that I just can’t get enough of them and still continue to play them. Below is my ‘Top 10′ list, an image that gives you a taster as to what it is like and a link, if you wish to play it online or download it and then play it if you share my tastes.
10) Countdown
This game is a rendition of the classic TV show ‘Countdown’ and to look at, it isn’t the most attractive or very Countdown-esque game. This numbers and words game is slightly toned down and could have been a bit more sophisticated but this is the ultimate game for a bit of brain exercise. For me, I love the show and to play the game is about 10 times better even though it isn’t the best to its abilities.

9) Road Rash
Mad about bikes? Road Rash is for you. This PC game is downloadable and provides you with all the thrill of motorbike racing. Even though the graphics weren’t great when I played it, I’m sure there are versions that are better especially that it has had some influence from PlayStation. I guarantee you that this game is a good one to get stuck into and will keep you interested throughout.

Line Rider
This game has wormed its way into the iTouch and I won’t be surprised if it is worming its way elsewhere. This is leisure for me in the purest form. Line Rider is a strategic game of making a track and nothing gives you more pleasure than watching the man on the sled ride it. This is the ideal game for Tube trains, bus or long car journeys and I guarantee you that even at home, it will keep you occupied and most of all – thinking.

7) Cubefield
Insanely addictive is the only name I can give this game. Very simple – you ride your pointer through paths without hitting the cubes and if you are bored out of your head, this is the remedy. It gives a very meagre adrenaline rush but you will find that tempers will flare once you hit a cube. I’d suggest this to anyone who is good at keyboard work because this game uses very nifty manoeuvring to get through. For me, I never got very far in this game in terms of levels but I did get glued to this game.

6) Street Fighter
Battling an opponent has never been any fiercer since the rise of Street Fighter. This game sticks in my memory for a very long time because this brings back memories of me battling it out with my cousins. The graphics have the typical Chinese touch and fighting will be the ultimate experience. I love this game so much because, even though it’s violent, gaming is a different experience in this. I remember playing this game on the games console but even now, I like to relive the experience on a PC.

5) Space Invaders
Who can forget the all time classic game where you shoot the aliens who shoot back at you? It is old, yes, but old is gold and this is the ultimate childhood shooting game that I can think of. Even the graphics can’t be compared with what you have today, the pleasure of this game lies in the fact that it is a game that nearly everyone has played it because it is so old and its passed down to generations in some cases. This game for me is a classic in its own right.

4) Pacman
If you can’t recognise the iconic little yellow thing eating its way through, avoiding the ghosts, you probably have issues. This game is my ultimate childhood and adult favourite because you persevere and persevere and persevere and where does it get you? Not very far! This game has got me so excited in my childhood that even now, this never-ending game gets me ready to play it any time and anywhere.

3) Sonic
I remember first playing this game on a games console by Sega. This game was so much fun; I’d class this as a great in terms of using known characters to give you a little taste of adventure. There are a lot of games like this around but for me, Sonic has always been one of my favourite characters and it still is. I don’t mind play this anywhere that I even got a game that is compatible with my mobile phone. You can’t be annoyed at anyone who is addicted to this game!

2) Mario
Mario is another classic adventure game and I remember playing this from an incredibly long time. Even though it isn’t recognised very much, it is a very popular adventure game that has had many different versions in the past. For me, I remember spending time with my cousins as we’d crowd around a computer, playing this game.

1) Happyland Adventures
Okay, I know that you are thinking, what is this? And how is this on number 1? What you don’t know is that this game is the only game I’ve played for the longest amount of time and very devotedly until I finished all levels so I decided to play it again. Happyland Adventures isn’t the most common name but this adventure game gives you an experience of discovery, thrill and entertainment. There is a Christmas version of this too and both versions are equally excitable. This is one supercalifragilisticexpialidocious game!
