On Flash Games 48 – Virus
A simple shooter.

Greetings, dear readers. On Flash Games infects its 48th victim, reviewing a game made by Diffusion Games called “Virus”. If you’ve been reading these from the beginning, Diffusion Games is the studio behind Mytheria, which is one of the better flash games I’ve played, and one of the earliest reviewed by On Flash Games. Enough rumination about the past, what is Virus? It’s a shooter/shoot ‘em up/shmup game not unlike Galaga or it’s ilk, with a certain defensive twist. You’re defending against viruses, and can pew-pew-pew away at them by moving your shooter-thing and holding down your left mouse button. After gunning so many creeps down, you are awarded “bombs” which can be detonated in three different ways (done so corresponding to the number buttons on your keyboard): 1, destroy enemies, 2, destroy the hexagons some enemies build, netting you some life recovery, 3, slow some enemies down. Destroying enemies quickly increases your points multiplier. Any time an enemy gets to the bottom of the screen, you lose life, so saving those bombs for recovery via hexagon destruction is a wise tactic. This game is overly, overly simple, but the graphics are nice and the action is frenetic. 4/5.
