On Flash Games 56 – Ether War

Greetings, dear readers. The Fifty-sixth rendition (I’m On Flash Games, I am) of On Flash Games details a game called Ether War, (fight that war here on Kongregate) which is a twitch shooter almost exactly in the same vein as our last reviewed game, and arcade classics like Asteroids or Sinistar. While Bubble Tanks 2 has soothing ambient music and segmented stages of gameplay, Ether War is fast, fast, fast. The music is similarly frenetic and electronic. In Ether War, you tak on the role of a fighter jet (cube shaped?) that you move with WASD or the arrow keys, aim with the mouse, shoot with left click. Said fighter-cube-thing is tasked with defending a space station from some malicious sphere things. As you these spheres, you get a currency called Ether, which you can upgrade your fighter with, but the enemies upgrade too! Yikes. The level of polish and gameplay is very high, so I’m giving this one 4/5.
