On Flash Games 57 – Epic War 2

Greetings, dear readers. The fifty seventh arrow in the quiver called On Flash Games endures Epic War 2, which you can play here on Kongregate. You can read my kvetch about the first one in On Flash Games 34. While significantly better than the first title, putting it generously, Epic War 2 is still derivative and lacking polish. The first game’s Middle-Earth aping story elements seem to have been put aside for walls of text in between battles. While not especially pretty, the story presented here is much more intruiging than in the first game.
Gameplay leaves a lot to be desired – shoot arrows, send troops. It lacks Bowmaster’s innovative controls, and the graphical refinement isn’t quite there. Music is boisterous, but I enjoy that kind of E.S. Posthumus quality to it. 2 out of 5 for being a firmly average game.
